TRD exhaust

Has any one installed this exhaust on their FR-S? If so does it change the sound in the car? How does it sound out side the car? Is it worth the 1500 bucks ?

LOL $1500 for an axle back exhaust.

I have it and it does change the sound of the car. I have not heard it from the outside but i have gotten nothing but compliments. Shop owner when I installed it complimented it saying it had a very nice sound to it and I'm assuming he has heard many. No it's not worth $1,500 though. My dealership wanted $1,500 as well but I bought online for $900 and local shop charged me $60 to install.

It's a cat back fyi

Personally, it sounds great! However, $1,500 is not justified for it, maybe if it's around 800-900, just maybe.

I would stay away from it unless you are getting some crazy deal on it.

my dealer charged 1100 which is still a lot for just a cbe. It's not very loud, and i like it but since my car is gonna stay stock engine wise, i would like a louder one.

my friend got it installed on his 2 weeks ago, it does make it a fair bit louder, but there is no drone, depending where in canada you are there is going to be a cruise in the GTA he will be there you could hear it for your self, hearing it online is completely different

front pipe doesn't need an o2 both o2 sensors are in the header. Do you mean a cat?

Will removing the cat cause any cels? Im guessing no since there's no 02 sensor right?

correct. The cat in the front pipe is only for emissions. Removing the header cat will cause a CEL. Depending on your state's emissions laws wether you can remove the front pipe cat or not. Basically if you dont want drone or rasp w/ a catback buy a catted front pipe.

Removing a cat will get u a MIL on. Because it will cause the o2 to have some funky readings.

For reference - it's a full catback exhaust as it includes the midpipe. All of the piping is 2.5" with the exception of a 8" section which connects to the midpipe - I believe that section is stock diameter (I have no clue why TRD didn't just make everything 2.5"). Nevertheless, I think any decent metal working shop could turn it to a full 2.5" very easily. Installation is very easy and you should probably do it yourself if you have a place to lift the car on jack-stands. All you need is some WD-40 & long nose pliers (to remove the rubber exhaust hangers) and a wrench (8mm I think...). Took me about an hour to finish. Car sounds great, it's not too loud and there is no droning.
