86ers unite! Let's volunteer this holiday!

Hey guys, from all the love I've been feeling from this forum and from the recent 86 Fiesta plus the holiday season coming up, I've gotten in the mood of giving.

I was wondering what y'all think of maybe getting a group together to volunteer at a soup kitchen for Thanksgiving or setting up a food or coat drive in the southbay.

Just an idea or two I thought I'd throw out there.

Please chime in with your ideas!!

:thanks:

I can't commit to anything but if I'm free I'll help out.

This is a wonderful idea! Great way to publicize the group, and of course most importantly do some good.

I'm in the same boat as RC51ed, don't know what my schedule like for now, but definitely want to help out if I'm free.

I live across the country, otherwise I would most definitely help! I'll do what I can over here!

What a terrific idea! I'm in...just as long as it's not the weekend before thanksgiving lol

Let me know what I can do to help.

definitely interested schedule permitting!

last year a bit before Christmas, @JackSmiley and I bought toys and went to a toy drive/car show event in Union City. Minimal investment/commitment really, so for those who may not be able to do much, that would be an easy thing to take part in on a Saturday or whenever it is. Many car clubs will probably take set up something like this, or we could try and organize one ourselves.

And amazingly before I met pmok and jacksmiley, I was at that same event as old pictures proved.

Keep the ideas coming!

I have a crunchy schedule myself, so something quick and easy is good too.

I LOVE toy drives @PMok! Maybe one (or more) of the local shops can become a drop off site for Toys for Tots or Second Harvest? I know some of you have connections!

I have been thinking about this as part of a grander vision for the group and would be open to organizing a couple meets throughout the bay. Collect the toys or coats and organiza the donation. Ill look into groups in the bay to get the donations too. Would people rather do toys or coats/jackets?

Food kitchens get large influx during these times, plus they need solid commitments at least 2 weeks in advance. Most of us cant schedule that far out this time of year so I think that would be too difficult

I like toys to help children (who doesn't want to help children?) :) but second harvest is also a good charity to help... relatively easy to do canned food drives and collect/deliver them, something we could work out with an existing organization.

I'm all for the kiddos!

Toys for Tots

All we need is a drop off site(s) :iono:
