2012 NHL Playoffs Thread (aka the most wonderful time of the year)

Not a lot of hockey fans around?

Playoffs have been underway for two days and there have already been some awesome games. As of now:

EAST:
1 Rangers vs. 8 Senators - Series tied 2-2
2 Bruins vs. 7 Capitals - Series tied 2-2
3 Panthers vs. 6 Devils - Series tied 2-2
4 Penguins vs. 5 Flyers - Flyers lead series 3-2

WEST:
1 Canucks vs. 8 Kings - Kings lead series 3-1
2 Blues vs. 7 Sharks - Blues lead series 3-1
3 Coyotes vs. 6 Blackhawks - Coyotes lead series 3-1
4 Predators vs. 5 Red Wings - Predators WIN series 4-1

I wish I stayed up to watch the Blues and Sharks go to double OT, but I was too mad at the Caps losing in such a tight game. I'll try to keep the first post up to date as the games go on. I love this time of year and always try to catch as many games as possible.

Bruins game was awesome last night, reminded me of game 7 last year against Tampa that was scoreless until 13 minutes into the third, and there wasn't a single penalty the entire game. I love that kind of physical defensive hockey. I'm a little worried though because the Caps could've easily won that game. I think the series could still go either way.

Except for the no penalty part . The second period was all Bruins thanks in part to the amount of powerplay time they got. Caps looked a lot better in the 3rd and had some good chances. It was a great game to watch, and I'm already excited for Saturday. Hopefully the Caps can take that one, otherwise Boston will have a stronghold on the series.

Rarely watch hockey but its the playoffs finally, although I only saw the highlights of some of the games, I now wish I stayed home and watched the Bruins.

But Lets Detroit Go RED WINGS!

F you Havlat, F you....

Let's Go Blues!!!!!

(prediction Blues beat Sharks in 6)

Watched the Sharks/Blues... Havlat's goal was very very professional. No fuss, just zipped it in there.

As a Canucks fan I like their chances much less this year, than the last two, but who knows.

^ Kings played you guys pretty well from what I saw of that game.

I wish the Blues/Sharks game didn't overlap Caps/Bruins because it was a great game, and one I wanted to catch some of. So far the only series to me that looks like it could be easy is the Rangers/Senators series. They were all over the Sens and even though Anderson played well, the Rangers had too many chances.

I rather have them destroy Surrey than DT Vancouver

Yeah Kings brought it to us last game

Lots of good match up this year loving the Pit vs Phi games those have been pretty exciting

I'm praying for the Nucks but they don't look nearly as solid as they did last year tho goal tending we got 2 solid goalies

If the Flyers and Penguins play some more games like game 1 it will be a great series. As a big time hater of both teams, it's awesome to see them attack each other like that!

Decent ginger goalie and a Quebecois Italian that can't handle pressure is more like it.

Twins going to decide to put an effort in this year or are the playoffs just cutting in to their golf season? Heh...

Mr.Jay 04-13-2012 07:00 PM

I think the gingers are going to pull thru haha but i'm bias

Yeah these games are getting physical quick fast haha makes for good hockey

Capt Canuck 04-13-2012 07:56 PM

Hank and Dank played the best they will play in the playoffs last year IMHO. They didn't disappear as much as they previously had... well until the finals :-s and at their age they really cannot have much left to learn.

I have hope, but back to back finals? Phew, that's asking alot!
