Fuel Pump high pitch chirp noise

Hey Guys

I'm going for my first service soon. Have any of you guys experienced the high chirping noise when idling coming from the fuel pump? I know there's a TSB out for it over seas. Anyone tried to have it replaced locally?

Thanks.

Nope, don't have that problem. Do you?

Mine just developed the chirp a little over a week ago with 13,000 + miles. My understanding is the TSB does not take care of the problem and fuel pumps will not be replaced any more until there is a more permanent fix discovered. I've sent an email to my service tech to confirm this but he hasn't responded yet.

yip, its quite irretating when coming to a stop and hearing this high pitch noise.

S-SB-0023-12 : Chirping Noise from High Pressure Fuel Pump

TSB is for the American market. Probably the same fuel pump though. Will send them the TSB and see what they say.

There's about a 100 page thread on this already.

yip, wanted to know the other SA guys' opinion and IF our dealers are going to replace it. They usually feel that if it's from another country it doesn't count in SA. They don't just replace stuff here.:mad0259:

In SA you shouldn't have a problem. It's to do with ethanol in the petrol and it's a big problem in the US but not here. You're the first I've heard mentioning it in SA.

Edit: What fuel you using?

I don't think its the fuel..if you read the brz tsb they say its the way its designed. They changed it now...will see what the dealer says..

I have it too when the engine is warm - also the rev dip at idle. Ironically some Liqui-Moly octane booster has settled it for now. The bird in the engine is gone for now. Car runs so much more smoothly with it. The 86 needs 98 RON - or at least wants it.
