Fog Light Kit installed (nigel-jdmparts)
I ordered the fog light kit with the 86 stalk from Nigel JDMParts and had it installed a little bit ago. It's this kit http://www.nigel-jdmparts.com/frs-fo...-kit-set-basic, but I ordered the stalk and the 86 harness as extra. The installation was done by Tommy from Music Box located in South El Monte. I've been buying from Nigel and getting installation done by Tommy since my previous car. Both have been great to me.
So this is what I got. Bezels, housings, 86 harness, H11 harness and the 86 stalk. H11 harness is not pictured. I ended up not needing the 86 harness. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps17309c2e.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...psb9f98b6a.jpg The Stalk installed. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...psddb16ffe.jpg 86 wiring harness (blue) vs. FRS wiring harness (red) http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps3761e0b8.jpg The FRS wiring harness (red) has 3 wires. 2 for the front double filament blinker, and one for the ground. The 86 wiring harness (blue) has 3 wires. One for the ground, one for the single filament front blinker, and one for the fog light. 86 blinkers don't stay on like the FRS and only lights up when the blinkers are used. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps45108869.jpg We decided it was easier to modify the FRS harness and add the H11 harness to it. Tap the H11 harness ground wire to the ground wire on the FRS harness. Then add the other wire on the H11 to the open pin on the FRS wire socket thing. Here is the outcome. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...psa57d80dd.jpg The other mod that needed to be done to install was cutting off 2 little clips on the housing. That's very easy. As you can see in the pic, there are 2 little clips that are cut off on the right housing. Just clip off the corresponding side that you will install on. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps00f0736a.jpg I ended up getting LED bulbs from iJDMToy and they were just a tad big to fit through into the housing. The socket on the housing had to be shaved down just a hair to make it fit. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...psc10f7cc2.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps227371de.jpg The installation of the kit was done from under the car. He did not need to take off the bumper. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps72927eed.jpg The fog light indicator lights up when used. Not sure if this lights up when the button is used instead of the stalk. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...psdeee5ed3.jpg Here it is installed. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps1a54956f.jpg Light up. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...psbecc7bab.jpg Next on my list will be the GT86 headlights... :bellyroll: |
