Body shop recommendation in/near Boston?
Hey there New Englanders,
One of my buddies that lives up there got his car keyed this past weekend (one of my personal nightmares) and he's looking for a good, reputable body shop that does fantastic work to repaint the affected panels. He isn't really active on any car forums, so I figured I'd try to get some recommendations for him. Anyone in Boston know of a great local place? |
Boyle's Bodyworks in Arlington, MA

I can't say that I'm 100% happy with Boyle's, but they're good where it counts. The paint job and fitment is great as if it were fresh from the factory. They'll leave your paint swirled up, touch up is a joke, and they might forget a clip though. A clip is $2 and a detailer will do a far better job on touch ups and finishing regardless, so for me, it's not worth going back for them to fix.
Boston Body Shop is TERRIBLE with fitment, but their paint job is actually pretty decent. Allston Auto Works is ok with their paint and ok with fitment. |
I've repeated this a number of times but, if you have any high end dealerships in the area (R.R., Ferrari, etc.) More than likely they won't have a body shop because of the low volume of vehicles they deal in. That doesn't change the fact they frequently have a need for some body work to be done. Ask them who they use. It's a pretty good bet they know where the best work is done. Don't be surprised if it's a little shop off the alley somewhere. It's the man doing the job and not the beauty of his shop.

A+ auto body in chelmsford, MA; owners name is Gary. He did outstanding work on my car. I can't say enough great things about his shop! If I ever need anything done, I'm def going to him. Nuff said.

Acton Body Shop, did a great job when my FRS got rear ended 3 weeks after I picked it up.

Factory Collision in Weymouth. These guys did awesome work on my GTI and will be the BRZ's home for anything body related.
They aren't cheap but that's for a reason. Quality work for sure. |
We should make a stickied topic in this section with white listed shops of various types.
Performance shops, body shops, tuners, etc. It would be a nice resource. |

Here we go... throw any recommendations in that thread and I'll update the OP with new entries or reviews. We can do a black list to if necessary. |
