Experiences with plasti dip

Anybody have any experieces?

BRZPDX 10-20-2013 06:21 PM

what are you trying to dip?

Billylammerkins 10-20-2013 06:23 PM

I was just about to post something similar to this! I see a lot of members on the forum who have dipped their wheels.

Anyone have a firestorm with gold dipped wheels? I want to see what it looks like before I get it done myself!

@peace_noel has a firestorm with gold dipped wheels.

@Chen Personally, I don't like the matte look of plastidip, but I haven't seen any with the metalizer sprayed on top of it. Kevin seems to be able to keep his car pretty clean, but I think it's cause he pressure washes it pretty religiously.

I'm trying to go back to the hyper silver or gun metel finish.

@Chen
I am first timer on the plasti dip stuff too, but it actually is much easier then you thought it would be.

I would just recommend holding the can about half the distance, or even less, away from whatever you're painting than you would if you were spray painting it. If you hold the plastidip can too far away, it creates a fuzzy-textured extra-super-duper-matte finish. Unless that's what you want, then it's perfect.

Looks great Leon. You mind helping me paint mine when I get the paint? I was told Home Depot actually sells it as well. What did you end up spending? And you got 6 cans total?

@Chen
I got my plasti dip wheel package from dipyourcar.com
4 cans of Vintage Gold and 2 cans of Glossifier. I had checked out on 2 HomeDepot (Mall205 & Clackamas), they only carry certain colors of the plasti dip. So far as I know, they only have black, white, red, blue and glossifier. I don't see they carry metalizer at all. I would love to help out if you need, just let me know in advance. usually off on weekends.
