Options and what is worth it.
I've been looking at different options/builds and their potential minimum costs vs hp gained. Not sure if other people would find this useful or pointless but I just put it together real quick, hope it is helpful.
I came up with some modest results and for the power increase and price, keeping the car naturally aspirated seems well worth it if you're looking for a relatively modest power increase. Below is a hypothetical NA build that I am considering for my daily/twisty road driver. The numbers are rough - provides a decent sample (sorry in advanced if there off). I also experienced the Vishnu tune in action today which I liked and definitely noticed a positive difference. NA build Vishnu Tune - $500 - +15hp + Borla UEL header - $645 - +10-15hp + WORKS front pipe WORKS axle back WORKS mid pipe WORKS high-flow drop-in air filter → combo = $1,100 - +15hp $2,300 - +45hp ---------- Turbo build AVO Stage 1 - $4,290 - +60 whp AVO Stage 2 - $6,000 - +88 whp Greddy - $4,940 - +93 whp WORKS – unknown ---------- Supercharger build Innovate S/C - $3,695 - +45 whp HKS S/C - $4,750 - +48 whp Kraftwerks - $3,695 - +80 whp Vortech - $5,687 - +132 whp expand |

The numbers are off their websites or 86speedfactory's website. If I am not mistaken most of these numbers were achieved running either 91,92 or 93. Not sure if elevation plays a huge role but that also might be a reason why they get somewhat higher results. Lol @ the $99 per 1 HP

The thing with turbo setups is that you're pretty much only limited by how much boost you want to run. I'm sure you could make a 2,000hp FA20 if you wanted to*. But supercharger setups are pretty much limited by the pulley size.
*not that it would last more than a few seconds, though. |
i cant imagine the vortech kit beating out all the turbo kits for peak horse power.

Power you gain from mods is not additive like that. With all those NA mods you might be at +20whp.
+45whp is possible assuming your stock car dynoed at around 160 but you'll need e85 |
Adding HP numbers from various claims on mods never equals what it should. For one, claims are often a little optimistic, and two, one mod added to another that has already increased efficiency may not make as much of a difference as it would on its own. If it did, there would be a lot of 86s around with 50+ hp over stock (N/A), and there aren't. I think a more realistic N/A number for the above mods would be more like 20-25 hp on 91, and that's being generous.

Why'd you only list the turbo kits making the least power? Those are probably the best if you're concerned with having as little lag as possible.

One of the good things about the SC kits if you go with a headers and a tune first, these items will not be wasted. Personally I think I have decided I am going innovate SC next year some time, but for now I want to get rid of a TQ dip. Headers are the best way. If you go Turbo, most of the time you have to throw the aftermarket headers away and sell.
