Anyone here try Amazon Prime free trial?
Always get offered to try it via Amazon. If you try it do they always bug you about purchasing the membership afterwords? Whats the catch eh?
Thanks. |
No catch, just make sure you check "Do not continue" in the prime membership page after you start the free trial.
|
When you sign up, you give them your credit card number. At the end of the trial, they will charge you the full re-up price unless you specifically exclude your Prime trial.

Prime is free for expecting moms and discounted for students.
Sent from a Motorola DynaTAC 8000X |
Steep discount for students.

I'm on the 6 month student free trial. So far, it's been nothing but beneficial. Even non-school related items that qualify for Prime have been 2-day shipped for free.
Try it out, if you don't want to pay for the full service, just cancel the re-up. :) |
I've signed up using 3 different school email addresses. I have a 4th that I could use, but I feel like I've benefited for long enough (2.5 years free Prime...). I re-upped with the student discount @ $39.99 I think.

If you shop on Amazon a lot it is incredible and well worth the $80 a year.
|
I pay for prime, you can share it up to 5 accounts. Charge my buddies $15 each and it all works out.
Worth it |
I've had the paid Prime account for a couple of years, easily pays for itself in the shipping we save although you do have to comparison shop because sometimes price+shipping can be cheaper than Amazon Prime price since not every 3rd party on Amazon is covered by Amazon prime.
You also get 20G of cloud storage and you can upload all your music to the cloud that doesn't count against the quota. I have a houseful of musicians with varying tastes so we have about 100G of music from about every genre. I use the Amazon Music Player on my phone in the car all the time, plus have all my family's photos (20 years worth of digital photos) backed up to the account, along with encrypted backups of other important documents. Basically that function alone is worth the price of admission when compared to other online backup options. |
Amazon Prime is a hell of a deal even if you don't get a discount... assuming you do a lot of your shopping on amazon.

I had the trial for Amazon Mom years ago when it first launched. Last year I finally bit the bullet and signed up for Prime. If you don't have Netflix, the streaming alone is worth it, since Netflix will get you for roughly $95/yr. If you do have Netflix, Amazon has some deals with other companies and a good amount of non-Netflix content.
Free shipping is awesome though. And 3.99 per item overnight. Can't beat it. |
love having prime. I hate waiting for goods to ship so guaranteed two day shipping sold me

Prime is probably the single best deal mankind has ever created.
I buy everything online. Literally. If it's not food (and even some of that) and it's in my house -- odds are damned good that it was bought online, and almost exclusively from Amazon. And all of it ships for free, and if I really need it, I can overnight it for $4. When I bought my new house, right after closing I bought a bunch of furniture off Amazon. Rooms full of the stuff. Overnighted for $4. In about 16hrs I had it delivered. They Express Air overnighted furniture for $4. I probably filled up the belly of an entire plane. Plus a good size LTL truck on each end of the move. $4. Local stores were $100-$200 in delivery charges, cost more for the item of course (in some cases a LOT more), and there were wait times of days. And they were "LOCAL". I had 136 Amazon orders last year (not counting the overnights), many of which contained multiple boxes. At $80/yr, that's about $0.60 per shipment, and probably about $0.30/box. And there's about a 50/50 chance that the standard "2-day" shipments will arrive in 1-day anyways; especially when I order on a Thursday, as they'll usually make sure the shipment arrives on Friday rather than waiting until Monday. Best. Deal. Ever. |
