Tuning and Break-in
Given that these cars are pretty new, there are a lot of new owners with low mile cars. Official "break in" is 1000 miles, but I'd be the motor and driveline continues to loosen up over the next several thousand miles. I see a lot of people jumping on the bandwagon and getting their cars tuned early in life - I'm wondering if it's a good idea to WAIT until the car gets maybe 8k-10k miles on it before getting it tuned? Internal resistance of a new motor is bound to affect everything about a tune, right?

IMHO, unless you are positive that your ECU is running revision C or later rom, you're probably safer flashing as soon as possible.

On my WRX, it was tuned after about 5k miles and to be honest, the motor didn't really break in until around 40k miles. It actually got smoother and pulled harder. As far as I'm concerned, break it in the first 1k miles, change the oil, and do what you want. |
