Best Luxury Sedans - Shopping Around
I've been shopping around for a Luxury Sedan as of late.
Kind of gave up on the BRZ, the price just doesn't do it for me. I've been driving coupes since I was 15. 2007 Eclipse 2010 Genesis 2.0T 2011 Genesis V6 Track But I recently got a promotion and a longer drive to work as a result. Spending nearly $80 a week in gas sucks, as opposed to not even $40 before. I'm looking to get a sedan now. Something with better mileage. Only getting 21 MPG combined in the Gen Coupe right now with half city/highway driving. Looking at the A4 Audi, liking it a lot. My top price is $42,000 Out the Door. That's after taxes, financing, etc. Making my top monthly payment $585 as I would be looking to gain better MPG to offset any addition to my monthly payment. Any suggestions? I'm hoping to buy in around 3-6 months. So possible upcoming 2013 models work as well. |
Used Lexus LS because a new one might be out of your price range. The Japanese luxury cars have way more value than the German ones in my opinion and I think Lexus has damn near the best value.

I was looking at them but they're just not eye appealing for me.
Little brother has an older one and it still has a great ride but I prefer to buy new. I do agree though, their standard features are awesome. |

The LS is my favorite of the luxury sedans. The Infiniti M I enjoyed as well but it's more sport luxury than luxury. Personally I like the LS430 more than the 460s and I'd suggest driving both and seeing which of the two you enjoy more. A used LS will be cheaper to maintain over time and more reliable (by far) than VAG/BMW/MB cars too. |
Shit, a buddy of mine has a late 90s LS...thing's still bombproof and looks classy as hell today. My dad keeps looking at the new LS460, but hasn't pulled the trigger yet.

I know this might not be what you're looking for, but I say try taking a look/test drive of the Kia Optima Turbo. Someone I know just bought one and I recently took a ride in one. I have to say that for the money the car isn't too bad at all. It's got good usable power (270 something) and the interior quality is pretty damn good for that price range. You get literally every option that most cars in the 70k range offer and you get all that in a car that get's something like 30+ mpg hwy. Hard to beat if you ask me. Just thought I'd throw that out there since you're looking for a sedan.

My friend owns a 2008 A4, and it definitely looks great, but the steering is numb and it's not exactly quick... though with some chip tuning I hear they can be quite fun in a straight line. It's also terribly bouncy in stock form, it's way stiffer than a 2004 wrx. The 2006 TL rides much better too.
However he bought it for 13K with 70k mi, a damn good deal for that car. I'm not sure if I being helpful, lol, just giving some insight. |
Thanks for the advice. I haven't looked at the higher nexuses. Ill check them out.
I don't mind the optima. It does look nice. Even looked at the jetta tdi but don't know much about it. |
The new 328i (F30). 240hp 2.0T with 33mpg highway and $42k can get you a sport edition.
And it's beautiful. |

Noticing that you've had previous GenCoupes, what about the sedan? |
I could and they'd give me a very low rate (got 3.4 I believe for upgrading) but I didn't find certain things about the sedan to my liking.
|
What do you mean by luxury? Large? Full of kit? German? High end Japanese?
Generally speaking if we're looking at $40k-ish sedans new/used, then used E92 M3 or Lexus ISF would be my picks. But they might be a bit too firm and small to be considered luxury. If brand new, how about the Passat CC Sedan, I think that thing looks 'classy' with a bit of luxury about it :-) Really a copy of the CLS Merc, but still. |
I could just say go and get a Caddy since that's luxury no matter what.

So is the new 3 series good or bad?
