not very loud, but high pitched sound at 70+mph
Does anyone else hear this? On a smooth stretch of freeway (radio off of course) you can hear it if you are listening for it: at exactly 70mph and above, I hear a high pitched sound (not sure where it is coming from, I assume the engine...) when I press the accelerator. It also sounds when I have it on cruise control. No sound when speed drops below 70mph.
Sorry I have not monitored the forums in weeks, so someone may have posted about this already but a brief search did not bring up anything relevant to me. If it's been posted already, replying with a link to the original thread will be appreciated. |

I've noticed this sound as well, sounds like a really quiet whine of some sort whenever I'm on the gas or travelling over 60mph. Not really bothered about it since it sounds almost like a tiny supercharger but would like to see what other people think as well. I'm guessing intake or the HPFP.

I hear it too. I've always assumed it's the fuel pump too. But I've never heard any crickets.

I have had it on multiple cars, I hate it but assume its normal.

I hear that everyday... seems to have happened right after install my innovate supercharger... hmmmmm ;-)

i've heard it, but it's never bugged me, it's only when i press on the accelerator too.

I just get a flapping noise from one of the fender liners

I get this as well but even before 70mph. I don't mind it at all, i just think of it as a innovate sc running :P

It could be the antenna.
Sometimes from a certain speed the antenna starts to resonate and causes a whistle noise. Is there someone with an aftermarket sharkfin antenna who also has this problem? |

I assumed it was the intake sound generator. I just drove 4 hours back from Miami and it was annoying. I just ignored the sound.

Normal. The only cars that I do not hear it on are on higher end vehicles like BMW, MB, Lexus, etc. but I believe thats just to a more insulated cabin, along with a thicker firewall.

I hear something like that too; it sounds like feedback coming from the speakers. However, if I turn the stereo on/off or turn the volume up and down nothing happens so I'm 99.99% sure it's not sound system related.
At this point, I just ignore it. BTW, I have never had crickets. |
