College and Military Rebates

Searched and couldn't find a thread dedicated to this. It keeps coming up in other threads, but I think it's useful information for a lot of folks, so it shouldn't be buried in a thread somewhere.

According to Scion's head of marketing: the $1,000 Military and $1,000 College rebates will be available for the FR-S.

From what I understand, you have to use Toyota financing to get the rebate though, correct?

I would imagine so, that's how most rebates of that sort work that I've seen.

Yeah, this was tha case when I bought my wife an 04 Durango. We refinanced it a week later with our credit union & got it for half the %.

Certainly need TFC financing (emphasis mine):

Quote:

If you are a member of the U.S. Military with current active duty status or an inactive reservist, you may qualify for a $1,000 rebate towards the purchase or lease of a new Scion when financed or leased through a participating Scion dealer and Toyota Financial Services (TFS).
With the college rebate, you're automatically qualified for their best rates. Credit union might still be a better APR, but the $1000 discount probably makes up for that. You can always refinance as kmbkk pointed out.

Depend on where you live credit union can be very competitive in refinancing rate. That's a great plan.

Terms can be found here: http://www.scion.com/promotions/collegerebate/

The site only says proof that you have graduated recently though not very specific. Plus do I wait until the car get in and then finance it through the dealer? Never financed through a dealer before I mostly worked it out with my credit union before hand and showed up with a check. Anyone has experience specific to Scion please share

Sweet! I graduate in a month and have a job lined up. FR-S just moved up on my list.

You do have to finance through Toyota Financial Services, and I "think" I "recall" reading somewhere that if you graduated in the past 2 years you qualify, but don't quote me on that. I graduated from a 2 year college in December/January so I am looking forward to that offer.

Also, they say you do get 90 days of no payments and if qualified, get other promotional APR offers.

Just yesterday my scion dealership told me the college rebate won't apply on this car...I also have a long history of finding this dealership to be useless though. Hmm

I'm glad to see they will honor these discounts on the FR-S. I would gladly take advantage of that military discount and save that extra $1,000 for the TRD Supercharger :)

For the college grad:
You must show proof that you have graduated from a legit program either in the past 24 months or will graduate in the next 6 months. You must also show proof that you are already employed or will be employed within the next 120 days. You also have the option to defer your first payment for up to 90 days.

For more details, click on the this link: http://www.scion.com/promotions/collegerebate/
Then, hover your mouse over the little "1" and "12" next to the headlines on the right side of the screen. Or could call your Scion dealership of course...
