How can I fix this!?
So, when entering my apartment there is a gate with security system that requires a password input. As many of you know the FR-S rides very low.... so usually I have to park my car and get out and push the password. Its been a couple weeks since I've had my car now so its never usually a problem....
Till today. I got out of my car, and apparently I did pull my e-brake all the way. Once I got out of my car and opened my door to push in my code the car began rolling back. AND IT FUCKED UP MY DOOR. Yes I know, it was a simple stupid mistake. Is there anything I can do about this? What are my best options? http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps5e2625be.jpg http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps891685eb.jpg |
Body shop if they can salvage the door then repaint ... Did it mess with the alignment of the door?

The only options you have is a pair of pliers with touch-up paint or a body shop. It depends on how nice you want it to look. I'd go to the body shop.
|
There's no "fixing" that since the paint is cracked. A body shop may be able to straighten it out and then repaint it without needing to buy a door skin. Odds are you'll be under the $500 deductible.
That sucks btw. I had a similar thing happen in my tight garage on my old car but was able to easily cover it with door edge guard. |
I can feel your pain. But there is no easy way out of this.
|
Does anyone have something similar to this?
|
I had the exact same damage on my passenger side door after it was blown wide open by crazy wind, edge bent and 4 inch crack in the paint. Went to a few body shops and all of them told me blending the pearl white paint would cost around a grand. I ended up finding a place that did it for half of that and came out looking new. You should be able to find it cheaper with the red though.

Sounds like you either need to fix your e-brake, or type the correct story |
Duct tape, hammer, and some fire. Maybe a little bit of paint too.
After that it'll buff right out. |

No, there's no DIY on metal work. There's more to it than you can imagine. If the average man, even the above average man, who had never done any metal work tried to repair that they would only make it worse.

Call your insurance company and tell them what happened and see what they tell you to do and be done with it.

Don't report something small like that to you insurance... I can't imagine that be more than 1000$. So live with it or pay :(

And unless you have a bad insurance history, your rates shouldn't go up for that, unless you have a crappy ins. co....................
|
This is why you have insurance. So many people come in my shop and are scared to use its crazy. If its not fixed right, it will always look like crap. The quarter will be blended for color match as well so its not just the door involved.
|
I vote bodyshop. You will be happy with the result.

Being red most shops could eaisly get away with panel painting and not blending the paint in the qtr panel. Red is very good IMO at hiding. Is the paint damaged on the iside of the door as well?
|
Maybe if it were down low near the rocker or something. But directly at the center of the door I'd blend for sure. Its true it could probably be tinted to where most wouldn't be able to tell, but I'm sure I could and it would bother the hell out of me haha.
