Factory shipment date updated in the official Toyota page in Japan

This should be posted in the Scion FR-S forum as well, but here I am in Subaru, so I will just post this. Hope this is not a repost.

The offcial Toyota 86 web page in Japan has just updated its delivery plan.
http://www.toyota.co.jp/jp/news/86.html

----
Factory shipment date for orders placed now on and hereafter.
Model RC, G (corresponding to Scion FRS base): On or after June
Model GT, GT Limited(to Subaru BRZ Premium and Limited respectively, not exactly same...): On or after October

Due to the larger number of the orders of GT and GT Limited, it takes more time to deliver units.
---

There are some discussions as well regarding the delay of the deliveries especially for GT & GT Limited.

They put their orders in Jan or Feb and were told that the delivery date was scheduled in May or June at that time. But recently, they got the notices from the dealers, those would be a month or further behind...

Hope this helps us estimate our dates...

This has nothing to do with American units or shipments.

switchlanez 04-11-2012 01:17 AM

Except that American units are being built in the same factory as the Japan units and will be shipping from Japan.

Draco-REX 04-11-2012 09:39 AM

True, but the delays could be because the extra units they sold will be built after the existing scheduled production.

It's even possible this might get US orders shipped sooner if they upped the entire production schedule. Who knows?

Until the SoA tracking system is updated and we get some approximate delivery dates it's pretty much a crap shoot at this point.

That would suck; however, I'd be able to throw one helluva downpayment on it!

I bought mine expecting it to come late this year, so I'd be content with October/November. Of course I'd be thrilled if it came earlier.

I could see this happening.. From a marketing perspective it makes sense to get some cars into the US market asap. They have foregone the TV advertisements. The other three major sources of marketing for them are: Auto shows, magazine test drive articles, and word of mouth from owners. The auto shows are winding down, then magazines have all done their test drive reviews, so the only thing left is to let the public have some so that they can share the news.
