Opinion on side mirror

So tragically my first post is to garner opinions based upon replacing a passenger side mirror. A drunk driver took off my side mirror early morning last weekend so now I have the fun job of replacing the mirror.

I am in no way a car aficionado but I have done a few bolt on things for my previous vehicle (even though it took hours).

The Toyota parts dealer is charging me 340 for the one side mirror part and then another 115 on top to install it!

I was wondering if an OEM replacement would be the better route. I have found the following out of the very slim selection:

What are your thoughts on that product and approaching my side mirror replacement in this route?

first of all, so sorry it happened to you

If I was in your shoes, I would do the same. In fact, I was eyeing that side mirrors for a while. Compact profile and better view from what I heard.

A guy in my local meet has a pair, and it looks real nice.

I believe the installation is pretty easy too.

If you are like me, and don't want to deal with wiring things for power side mirror adjustments, this would be an easy installation and cool look/mod for your car.

GOOD LUCK!

you would have to replace both sides if you want to keep it symmetrical and you'll be losing the power mirror function. I personally think it will look tacky on the car but it's your car do what you think is best for it.

Yeah the loss of the power mirror functionality is minimal in my eyes. Good to get some input and opinions. There are little to no parts for this vehicle!

+1
I look at the install time about the same whether you do it yourself or have the dealer do it. Dealer should do it easily in half the time as you, but we all know that never happens and they take forever.

If you got the APR mirrors thats $600 easy. If you got the OEM w/ the dealer install its $450. OEM is cheaper, you keep the power mirrors and you don't have to do the install. If you like the APR mirrors then go for it, just wanted to give my .02

I personally hate how the side mirrors are so big they block my view sometimes. I literally have to sit up to make sure there isn't a car behind it. I think if someone took my side mirror off, I would probably get those APR ones.

Here is a thread of someone who has them installed.

You could do the install yourself to save the 150 . The install videos of the Led drl mirror covers cover mirror installation . Takes about half hour.
