Brother From Another Mother: Unicornbanshee 86 ver. 2.0
As a present for myself I got a new car in 2008. My other vehicles were either 2nd hand or for the family.
I had a red (catch me) 08 STi hatch but it's a finished build. I fell in love with the 86 concept and was hoping for (like a lot if not most) a 250 hp RWD car. By the time the car came out in the my country a lot of aftermarket products were available. The first thing on my mind was boost! I knew I needed more power and the first thing that got my attention was the AVO kit. It seemed just right: price, power and simple. I could not justify it to the boss so I waited. More FI choices came out and I started to lean towards supercharging the car. I PM'ed several vendors here and all were very prompt in answering my questions. I decided to email AVO to ask if they have somebody at my end. Their guy here, Mark (MFB) emailed me back. It took me some more time to make up my mind but the decision was finalized because of Mark's promise of product support. The kit was installed @ Fusion R. I wanted to sell the car in 2015 but good thing it did not find a new home. 2016 was spent thinking of appropriate mods for the 86 and thus version 2.0 or arising version should be done this year (2017). These will be improvements in transmission, braking, suspension and aesthetics. Post install dyno will be this Thursday. I'll post the dyno chart this week. The baseline dyno was done with and Injen intake and a catless front pipe. AVO in the Philippines, as represented by MFB, offers great support. This was really the deciding factor. Great pricing as well. |
