Selected gear indicator on dash for Manual transmissions.
 

I can't seem to get the current gear selected option to work on my dash, I have a manual GTS. I've got the rev shift indicator working, but it doesn't display the current selected gear.

This is suppose to work for manuals too?

Ah nevermind, silly me. Doing it wrong. Didn't know of the section option:

yes it work in manual i followed this video tutorial to make it

I just wish it would display the gear your in while the clutch is still pushed down.

IMHO I think its totally useless...although I will admit I turned it on and never turned it off.

Why is it useless?

If you're driving a MT car...you should know what gear youre in based on engine rpm (or noise) and speed.

If you're unsure what gear you're in...you can always look at the shifter knob and derive the gear from its position.

Just my 2cents

I think it's useful if you're doing some spirited driving on some back roads or similar because you wouldn't have to take your eyes completely off the road for 1-3 seconds by looking at the fork position. Instead you can just glance at the dash and know instantly.

I mean there is a way to make it stay on buy move the clutch pedal sensor but that will mess up the cruse control function.

Yes, sitting at the lights and still in 3 would be nice to see. Stuff like that. But alas, oh well.

I have always just known by where the shifter is and about how fast I'm going. If you're at around 5000 rpm at 45 mph and the shifter is closer to you, i'm pretty sure you'd know you're not in 4th. Its not like a motorcycle shifter where you really need to know your rpm's for your speed to figure out what gear you are in.

Or just remember what gear your in. Doesnt seem that difficult

I just think it's cool to have my mph and selected gear digitally displayed on the dash... makes me feel like I'm playing Gran Turismo. :lol:

For the most part it is useless for an MT but I turned it on out of curiosity and never turned it off. Then the other day I decided to turn it off and now it feels weird without it lol.

Useless because it does not show gear till after you fully engage clutch and after getting to know your FRS for a while you do not need gear indicator.
