Like any other forum, everybody has an opinion. Some really solid flame-wars there.

^this. you think people argue about proper break in here. go try and talk oil or oil and engine break in over there and see what happens. hahaha

I've checked in on it from time to time over the last 10 years or so. Lots of opinions, lots of facts, lots of information overload. Useful information can be found if you take the time to search for it, and take the time to learn what everything means.

Some of the best information there can be found in the Technical & White Paper forum. But yes, there are LOTS of opinions there, and the "Motor Oil University" was written by a plastic surgeon. I'm not joking. :bonk:

There are still good posts by people that are in the industry, it just takes some time to sort through all the noise and figure out the difference. Post count and writing style does not mean that someone is in the industry.

This BRZ UOA is a perfect example. It's starts off fine, with some good recommendations, but turns into an all out war about oil coolers.

Lol oh lord, that is mine.... all I asked was for feedback about the UOAs, and then a 5 page argument started about the effect of oil coolers to the point I saw formulas, words I've never heard before, and dissertations by every "expert" on either side... at which point I stopped checking it lol.

If your planning on driving your car on the moon or never going below 9000 rpms then that site might give you some useful information...
Otherwise just buy the proper type and grade oil found in the owners manual and you will have all the information you need..

I dunno about that. The oil university stuff is very handy to know.

This one's a bit more down to earth to get started with:

The tire bible pages are top notch also.

Politics, Religion, Oil...the three things I don't talk about with people.

If you ever stumble upon the thread regarding Subaru oil filters and the new-at-the-time 23 psi bypass pressure spec...

  2. Hide the wife.
