Coilovers & speed bumps

So i got about 800 miles on my frs, and just went parts shopping. the one thing i got r kw v3 coilovers. I had a gc8 w kyb struts, and a civic with stech's, but this is the first time im gonna daily a car with coilovers.

Im NOT going to be stancing the car. I will lower it max 2" and run wider 17's in the future.

My question is, I have a speed bump going into my neighborhood (not too too steep). I go over it about 4 times a day. Will going over the speed bump over time reduce the life of the coilovers? Ik its kind of a wacky question, but seriously, going over this bump almost 1500 times a year may produce more wear on the internals of the shock. Im still going to put them on, its w.e. im just curious thats all.

As long as you're not driving over it at a million miles an hour, I don't see any problems with going over a one speed bump a few times every day. I say you're good as long as you're not rippin' through there.

Your shocks are doing more work when driving compared to going over a speed bump at a very slow speed.

that all makes sence. I never rip through the bumps. thanks for the input.

Bumps are fine. Street driving puts more stress on coilovers than driving on a track, or over speed bumps. Absorbing the road is what causes the wear, but that's also what the suspension is for.

So you are going to "stance" but not call it "stance....." lol
I thought lowering your car to the point where you barely have functional travel and wider rims than the tread width of your tires is exactly what "stance" is all about?

i said i am going to lower it MAX 2 inches. prob about 1-1.5 at the end of the day. ill see, what doesnt rub, and fits the wheels i eventually buy. I want 17x9's to be able to compete in reasonable classes, yet have bigger contact patch than the stock wheels provide. i never said im going to use stock tires or "stretch" tires onto wider wheels.

stance is, lowered as far as u can possibly drive (no right hand turns out of parkin spots), 18x10 wheels, - camber out the ***. so no, im not going for the stance look as i said in OP
