Should have my Finevu CR-500HD tomorrow. Im curious of how everone mounted their cameras.
Im debating modifying the mount to hook up to the mirror mount so there is not an additional windshield mount. Im curious of the view from the front of the car mostly. Want mine as under cover as possible. The CR-500HD has buttons on the rear that you may want to access while driving so im thinking on the left side of the mirror. Some people have reported the lights on the back are distracting so im thinking of applying a small amount of window tint over the buttons if its an issue. Please post the model you have as well. Attached is just a stock photo but I will post once I install. Sent from a Motorola DynaTAC 8000X now Free |
for anyone recording, just be sure to remember to be aware of 1-party and 2-party consent states.. being caught on the wrong side of that can land you in serious trouble..
there's been better articles on it, this was the only one that mentioned the states that i could find right now... http://www.slate.com/articles/news_a...cord_laws.html |
This is mine

I installed a Blackvue 500 last winter, here are the pics from my install thread:

To be safe, disable audio recording, since wiretapping laws only apply to audio conversation being recorded. Pictures and videos can legally be taken in public places. Pictures and videos of law enforcement or other government entities, on the other hand, are subject to local harassment, I mean law. So keep that in mind - if you get pulled over and asked to stand in front of your car in view of your dashcam, you may want to turn that off if the laws in your locality make filming of cops a punishable crime. |

Here is a temp install I did last night. Placement is good. Love the option to be able to take a pic or a video at the push of a button besides the normal even and always on recording.

I recently set this up, gopro+naked frame. Unfortunately the go pro clips arent oriented properly to tuck the camera higher. Going to experiment with cutting and gluing clips to get the orientation i want. I would like the lens to be basically sitting just below the black bar. It took moving the camera that far right to keep the mirror mount out of the picture frame.
Also need a 90 degree usb, and thinking of maybe doing something to cover the screen. Doesn't really function as a 24/7 dash cam as it sits powered from glove box. But works decent enough for the 5 minutes involved so far. Faceplate is plasti dipped, basically just seperate from body, spray a few coats, dry, and put back on. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3726/1...0705a341_b.jpg |

http://www.finevudashcam.com/finevu/accessories.html Allows power from the main battery until a certain voltage is reached then stops the camera. Does the gopro allow for over writing the oldest clip and looping? Can it auto record when powered on? Sent from a Motorola DynaTAC 8000X now Free |

Hole in firewall where noisepipe came through should be perfect for cable routing up to where its all located now (to the right of the glovebox sourced and split from glovebox 12v). The go pro does have a loop setting, I have not experimented with it long enough to see how it actually functions, but it appears to be currently leaving 15 minute files on the setting its at. Record with poweron is possible, but it requires disabling wifi control, which is kinda fun for playing around and using as a monitor. |
Can't show you mine yet:)
Just ordered the BlackVue DR550GW, (Unit has a front and rear cam). I was able to pull a string to the rear window under the headliner. Was a 2 minute task, used a tape measure , (The roll up kind) Taped a cord to the tape measure and fed it true the dome light opening. Will wire the add on fuses this weekend and get all wiring ready for when the camera comes in. I shall post pictures when the install is done... |
Cant wait to see it. I was looking at that one. Liked the wifi option. But operating temps were still below what I needed here in az.
