A - We go out of the back of Kohls
B - This is an easy turn to miss. Pay attention kids!
C- This is where we typically stop to hang for a bit.
D, E - Other important turns, but more obvious than B.
F - La Tolteca. Large enough lot and restaurant to accommodate larger groups.

Great, thanks for posting this. I kept trying to register to get the details but the capture part is/was broken. As long as I can get my wheel put on this week I will be there.

I'll be down to go, any other cars allowed to go?

samuel1990 10-08-2013 01:52 PM

sounds llike fun

Sounds great! For someone who's never done canyon runs before, is the driver pool going to vary with advanced and beginner canyon drivers or should drivers with less canyon experience not go to this one?

Just take it slow and you'll be fine. Gmr attracts a lot of mountain bikers and sports bikes so you have to watch out for them around every turn.

A good portion of the drive doesn't have a center divider line, be very careful going around blind curves. General advice applies as well, don't go faster than you can drive safely, stay alert and focused at all times. Keep a respectful distance from the car in front of you and double it if you know they can stop faster than you.

It's a public road so remember you'll be sharing it with enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts. Always thank people that pull over to let your group by so they'll keep doing it.

if the start time is 3:30, when time do you think the finish time will be in getting to La Tolteca?

First, sorry I missed this. Got to check my settings to make sure I get updated "instantly".

Here's the deal with Motorgen. It's just open and each run varies a bit depending on who shows up that day. But it doesn't matter :) !

If you're new, great! If you just want to chill, great! If you want to push, don't be an idiot, but great! Roughly speaking people who want to push a little go out front and those who want to chill hang back a little. That's about it. On any given day we can have a range from zero BS track cars, to cruisers. It doesn't matter. We're not racing. Love cars? That's it.

Hope to see you. If I can get my highly modified C3 Corvette to behave, I'll be rolling in that. If not, I'll be in my wife's "Hello Kitty" Miata.

It's kind of a function of how long people hang at the top (C), traffic, and so on. But most likely in the 5:30 - 6:00 range.

From experience, *mostly* the bikes and other peeps are running early in the morning. The route and direction we take will *tend* to have long periods of people not coming the other way. But yes, a major section is undivided and closer to 1.5 lanes than 2 and there are blind corners. This is not a problem if you just take it easy, which I certainly recommend for anyone not familiar with this route.

It's 100% fine to just hang back and pull out of the way (there are lots of turn offs) for anyone just cruising. We are NOT racing. That's for the race track. :burnrubber:
