Does your 86 do these 2 small things?

Hey guys,

At just over 5,000km now, loving the car, no major issues yet. All small issues i've read about everything there is to know about them on the forum. but there are 2 small things ive noticed my brz does that i haven't read about on here and couldn't find anyone talking about it.

The first being a slight vibration on start off, while slowly letting go of the clutch. its not an under rev vibration, its actually most noticible on inclines when im starting off at like 1500-2000rpm. and only while disenganging the clutch slowly, easily recreated, and doesnt seem to do it when starting downhill or lower revs.

the second thing is pretty easy to explain, does your cars have a bit of a "whimper" when you turn it off after warm up? sounds like something is still spinning for a slight second and then a very slight squeekish whimper type sound, you have to have the ac and radio off and listen for it.

just wondering if this is all everyday stuff for these things cause i havent seemed to come across it yet, thanks guys!

The vibration you described is very common. I've never seen a thread about it, but I have seen it come up many times in various threads. I think it's just a symptom of having a manual transmission, as my Tiburon and my R6 do this same thing on rare occasions, but it seems Subarus tend to do it even more so.

As for the second thing, it sounds like your car is sad you're about to abandon it, and rightly so. I hope you feel good about yourself.

Vibration is probably your rear differential getting a workout.

The sound at shut-off is probably a normal sound. I know mine makes tons of squeaks during shut-off, as if the pumps and belts are still spinning.

thanks for the input guys, can anybody actually recreate the vibration like mine does everytime? i drove a manual civic for 2 years before this and never got a vibration on clutch release.

i've noticed mine in 1st gear at around 1500-2000 rpm or so starts to shutter and shake a little like it's about to stall even though i'm holding a more or less constant speed

My FR-S's clutch used to shudder a bit in the lower gears for the first few thousand miles. After 6,000 miles it doesn't do it anymore.

Maybe the clutch and pressure plate just got to working together better ..... or ..... I'm better at shifting ....http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...ages/whaat.gif
