Door padding looking messed up?
Hi all - I've had my FR-S for two weeks now, and the other day as I was getting in the car I noticed that the padding on the inside of the door was looking messed up.
I know it's from the window molding on the door, and from what I can tell I don't see a way to avoid it squishing the padding inside door like this, but it still concerned me since it didn't look good. Is this inevitable, or is it supposed to be as bad as I feel that it looks? I noticed the passenger side wasn't quite as bad, although I have not done anything to my knowledge that would cause the padding to look that bad - even though I've had my car for awhile now I am still very careful each time I open and shut the door. I'm kind of worried about the rubber fraying eventually if this is how it looks while the car is still (relatively) brand new. Here are a few images to better represent what I'm talking about: http://imageshack.com/a/img546/4622/xdnw.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img59/8672/oxoq.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img513/6424/3yxo.jpg |
If I remember correctly, my Tiburon has that same thing going on in pretty much the same place. It's been that way for 7 years now, no problems.

Don't know.

kinda hard to imagine that the window glass would do that but i guess its possible. to me it looks like somebody tried to jimmy open your car through the windows like with one of those flat metal type car door opener that worked on older cars. just throwing it out there.

That part of the door frame is adjustable. You can slide it up or down. Perhaps it needs to go down a bit.

someone tried to break into your car man!! mine looked the same, then the got pissed and smashed my window and stole my prescription sunglasses lol

What the hell? Are crooks really so discourteous these days that they've stopped leaving presents? People make me sick.

Does not look normal. Looks like someone wanted in and they had no key. Id take it to the dealer and see what they say. You might get lucky and they'll replace it. I would hate to have that on my 2 week old car.

I took it to the dealership today - they said that it is normal, and is caused by the rubber finish that connects the adjustable part of the window to the small triangular one. He mentioned that is why that part of the padding kind of lacks a chunk there in order to let the rubber squish into it when the door is closed.
It still doesn't look that great to me, but I guess it's inevitable with the way the rubber around the window is molded. Still, I was surprised that I never saw this issue come up, or get mentioned if this is in fact intended to end up looking this way. |

It's completely normal...Mine has it on both sides and has never been broken into. If it had, you'd see where the rubber seal was TORN...

My car's window gaskets look EXACTLY the same.
It seems normal and until I notice water leaking inside I'm not worried about it. |
