Has anyone gotten ticketed in NEW YORK for license plate frames?

I recently ordered these license plate frames I've had my eye on for the longest time and realized they covered most of the "EMPIRE STATE" and part of the "NEW YORK". I tried doing research online but wasn't successful so I figured I'd ask here and see. I just kept finding information that you CAN be ticketed but no one has actually gotten an actual ticket for it so I was wondering: Has anyone gotten a ticket for "Obstructed License Plate" or something similar because of the frame they had? I know it's "illegal" to have those dealership frames too but as I was driving around, I noticed a LOT of dealership frames that cover almost all of the "EMPIRE STATE" and some which almost completely covered the "NEW YORK". Also, seems like you're not allowed to have a sort of covering for the entire plate either, which I don't have so that's not an issue for me. Something to do with the red light cameras?

I've never been stopped for it, but it's just another reason for a cop to pull you over. if you don't drive stupid than don't worry about it.

What's the penalty? If it's not much or if it will be disregarded if you correct it, then I'd just roll the dice and get the frame.

In Mississippi, it's illegal to clear corner your headlights. Been driving around for 7 years with clear cornered headlights now. Been pulled over and driven through road blocks plenty of times. 0 problems. Authority likes to pick and choose what it enforces, and it sounds like that isn't one of the things they've chosen to enforce - like the anti-but seks laws.

I got a ticket in New Jersey because my plate frame covered up Garden State. The cop said he pulled me over because I chirped my tires while making a left hand turn. He also told me not to take the frame off as its 0 points.

You can get a ticket for it...but look at it this way; typically if you have 0 points on your record and your speeding they may write you a ticket for obstructed plate instead as to "be nice" I say go for it and if any issues pull it off

Police are not going to pull you over for the obscured plate ONLY.

Rather, if they suspect you are doing something else wrong, they will use it as a reason to pull you over / search your car etc

I'd say take the risk, and if you get pulled over solely for that reason, then fix the problem. No one has mercy for repeat offenders
