On Friday, I headed out to Fremont for my appointment with AutoRnD for some work on my 86. The items on the agenda were new wheels, tires, RCE Yellow spring install, and alignment.

This was a pretty big moment for me, as I had been researching (read: obsessing) over wheels for the past 6 months or so. Fortunately AutoRnD gave me a deal that was too good to pass up, so that made it an easy decision. Seriously, anyone in bay area looking for Enkei wheels needs to give them a call, they're currently trying to move all their Enkei stock so take advantage...

Because NorCal 86 DRIVE is awesome, founder @PMok rolled down in his tastefully modded MR2 Spyder to meet me for lunch and to hang out and talk cars. What a great day!

Anyway onto the pics! This is with a 3mm spacer up front for an effective +42 offset. Tire specs are 245/40.

Why the spacer?

Because +45 up front is too close for comfort with a 245 tire & no camber bolts.

looks good , do you feel much difference in in steering/handling ?

Love the classic 5-spoke design, in my opinion this is the kind of wheel the FR-S should have come from the factory with.

There is a dramatic and noticeable difference with the larger size tire. During slow speed maneuvering the steering feels even lighter than stock which is surprising. During any kind of turning, it just feels like it wants to go wherever you point it, even at low speeds. Must be due to the wider contact patch - it's making everything feel way more planted and awesome. Highly recommended!

Looks good! I've been considering these for my other car. Been waiting to see if they'd fit over a StopTech BBK.

Looks better with its own thread :)

Obligatory "NEEDS MOAR LOW" haha. Just kidding, looks really good, glad you finally decided on a set of wheels. What camber settings did you end up at after the drop?

B2FiNiTY 10-07-2013 07:27 PM

looks very oem and clean

Glad to see they did a good job! I'm going in on the 16th to get my wheels/springs/alignment done. I forgot to mention that it was you who recommended them though...wonder if it's too late to get them to knock a few bucks off, haha.
