The check valve is a few inches after the bend towards the engine. It is about an inch long.

And now that I think about it, the check valve just makes sure you have power brakes if the engine dies when driving. It's a safety feature. I'll definitely get a replacement.

You convinced me to pick up a vacuum manifold. I can only imagine there will be more vacuum lines needed in the future. ;)

Just got my license and downloaded the tune to the ECU. Wow...this thing is quick! The thrust is there down low and the dip is gone. It really pulls!!! The SC scream is a bit louder than I expected but it isn't too bad. The BOV isn't too obnoxious either. I'm going to get in trouble with this thing...

Overall a really solid product. I've had good luck receiving emails back from Kraftwerks as well.

digital_assassin 01-06-2014 06:35 PM

Glad your up and running Dren! Are you going to have a dyno pull done to see where things are at?

I ran without a check valve for a bit. It doesn't affect your driving unless you are driving spiritedly or on the track. Quick transitions from WOT to brakes will reveal a super hard brake pedal which will get softer after the cylinder fills with vacuum again. Def get a check valve if you do this type of driving.

I couldn't find any the right size and the hose from subaru was over $100 so I found this from another thread on here. It works perfectly and is cheap as hell:

http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/ite...rtnumber=64175

64175 is the part number. I bought a bunch.

I ordered the replacement hose from Subaru online store and it was $24. I'll receive it tomorrow so I'll let you know if it's the right part...

I am not going to have a dyno pull, but since it is stock and I am running the below tune for stock, it should be this:

cobrabyte 01-07-2014 01:27 PM

I'm still waiting on injectors, oil cooler and some other bits to show up before tackling the install. I only want to pull the bumper once. :)

No, neither this graph nor the graph I posted in last page were E85. They were pump fuel.

Kraftwerks released an E85 graph that showed ~350 whp I believe.

Me confused. Okay, there's this http://cms.kraftwerksusa.com/id/954/...-Dyno-Updates/ 338 HP E85, header, etc. (fuel upgrades, one would suspect, but not listed...) vs 157 HP baseline stock.

Looking forward to seeing others results. It does seem a little ahhhhh, optimistic.

Thanks for clarifying. I like your numbers and this kit.

dren 01-08-2014 09:48 AM

From what I have seen here and the Delicious Tuning 91 octane on a stock car graph I posted (and tune I am using) this kit does produce good numbers. 100+ hp at peak over stock at the wheels. If you back calculate assuming 22% losses (based this on the 200hp motor rating and 157hp at the wheels) the motor is making around 340-350hp.

This is a conservative tune on winter gas so numbers should change in the summer. On both the KW kit and the JR kit Bob kept our Rev Limiter at 7,400 and I can't recall for sure if this could be raised with higher flowing injectors and fuel pump or not, but I recall him saying he was having issues getting enough fuel.

If you look at your graph, it would make no sense to raise the limiter.

digital_assassin 01-08-2014 05:16 PM

I've been testing the toothed pulleys on the kit with Kraftwerks and the results are very good. Here is a video of the kit with toothed pulleys at idle. Pretty big difference. I close the hood at the last part of the video and it's barely detectable when idling. When you get on it the whine is there though. Sounds great now! A finalized version will be going into production and will be on the streets soon.

You'll need more fuel pressure to make more power; that's fairly easy. The larger concern, IMO, is how weak the valve springs are; I'm personally against raising the redline without some headwork.

Coheed 01-08-2014 10:29 PM

I do wonder how the valve springs will handle high rpm with the stock cams. Of course, I have no idea how aggressive the ramp angles are. But generally speaking a 500rpm bump in rpm is safe on most engines. Of course, this is engineered this way by OEMs to help save the engine from new drivers that make mistakes shifting. This is purely a safety margin, but by utilizing the extra rpm at a "workable" range of RPM you are using up your cushion.

I remember reading here many months ago that people were being brave taking this car up to 9000rpm? How high was Visconti able to take this engine without catastrophe?

Is it possible to get a list of all known issues or install tips in the OP? It would be greatly appreciated for those interested in obtaining this kit. Thanks.

I can do that. So far no problems, just install notes on oil cooler reservoir and inter cooler piping clearances.

shaunsweeney 01-09-2014 05:30 PM

Excellent thanks so much. I think it will be very useful information. I'm really liking this kit. The stand alone belt drive and cleaner routing are big sellers.

TrogDor the Burninator 01-09-2014 09:45 PM

I think the Rev limit had to stay at 7400 due to the rpm limit of the Rotrex at 100k. If you go to a smaller pulley you will be at that rpm limit even sooner ...

Good insight. Judging by the graph above there's little point in being above 7k.

shaunsweeney 01-10-2014 02:11 AM

I think the Stage 3 AVO fuel upgrade might be a nice addition with the higher boost pulley.

PRORICAN 01-12-2014 09:51 AM

After a lot of thinking this might be the kit for me. Might be joining this list soon!

First mistake never promise anything she want's she will take you to the cleaners. Always find out what it is she wants first to make sure you don't lose. For me the wife wanted a trip to disneyland for christmas before i could spend 15k on the car. I got the better part of the deal i think. I got to go to disneyland and in return i am getting a supercharger a wide body kit lots of carbon fiber and new wheels.

PRORICAN 01-12-2014 05:26 PM

Lol all she wants is baby stuff (we're expecting) and a trip to Houston, Tx which is stuff we're doing anyways so I Win!!

digital_assassin 01-12-2014 05:30 PM

How bout you Prorican?

Just looking to add some people to the list.

I'll have some flyby videos uploaded tonight. A few of the PDX guys went out to the industrial area and messed around this AM.
