Go to page 22. Be very careful and follow the instructions to the letter.

any dyno updates??

digital_assassin 12-12-2013 03:41 AM

It's a cake walk @grostoine. Just take your time and let it come together. The hardest part for me was getting the oil reservoir mounted. You'll need to release the brake line from the plastic clips from enough locations to raise the line without damaging it.

grostoine 12-12-2013 01:28 PM

Seriously Kraftwerks... WHAT an awesome kit. Easy installl WOW !!!

Miss the A/C cover doe....

I was missing the belt cover as well and hear its shipping out tomorrow. I'm curious if you had any issues getting at the bolt under the brake line.

Did you purchase a KW tune? If so what do you think and when is your dyno going to be up :).

I should have the results of the @Drift-Office tune on this kit no later than Saturday

cobrabyte 12-12-2013 03:21 PM

Whew! Order finally paid for and should ship today. Really, really looking forward to your results @digital_assassin ... I'm going to push the install until after the new year. Going to fly my tuner in because I'm running a FlexFuel kit

I follow your advice and it all go pretty well for the bolt under the brake line! The Hardess part was to get the pulley on the adapter. I had to uninstall it from the engine because it was too tight. For the alignement I used 2 longer bolt. But all in all is pretty easy install...I done everything alone.

My car is stored until April so I guess I won't know how it goes until then. I did not purchase the KW tune because I lost my job and I made everything that I could so I spend less money... I had engagement for the kit and really want it but the tune can certainly wait for the moment... Plus I had to change my headers :(

I can't wait on your result's !

I purchased one as well. The compressor outlet looks to be in the correct location so maybe that was just an issue with some? May start the install Sunday. Good advice in this thread!

digital_assassin 12-13-2013 12:26 PM

Added you to the owners list @dren. Can't wait to see your results!

grostoine 12-13-2013 08:11 PM

Digital assassin, what are the results? Did the kit made less, equal or more power than the jr kit in the oder thread?

digital_assassin 12-13-2013 08:56 PM

We shall see tomorrow. No posting happening until I pick it up.

digital_assassin 12-15-2013 03:29 AM

And the results are in!

It's been bugging me that both kits instructions don't address this. According to Rotrex the Oil Reservoir should be lower than the Rotrex. The KW kit location can be worked to achieve the proper positioning with a little work. Had to bend the bracket a bit and then bend the tab holding the molex plug out of the way. I don't know if this is an issue or not but I changed mine up just to be safe.

http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/...pso7bwiyl6.jpg

Look by the battery and you can see how high it was.
http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/...psmkbc9say.jpg

So I lowered it waaaayyy down.

http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/...pshixsgozf.jpg

I'm interested to see if it is in this position that maybe it will actually flow oil. I can't start the car tonight since the kids and neighbors are asleep :)

gmsii 12-15-2013 04:01 AM

Digital Assassin...the oil reservoir in the original KW location is fine...Rotrex is concerned that too high of position will cause the front seal to leak due to high static hydraulic pressure; their generalized instruction to mount the reservoir lower than the charger guarantees that the seal will not see high enough static hydraulic pressures to cause leakage. The reservoir even or slightly higher than the charger with the line running lower (as is the case with the KW kit) is fine.

Thanks! I'm still waiting on the EcuTek to ship. Once that does, I'll tear into her.

OICU812 12-19-2013 02:29 AM

@gmsii

How long before the toothed idlers come out? Only - I read or hear about is noise levels and I'm very curious is those bits being toothed will basically solve that or not. I'm abit of a nancy pants with additional noises so this is a concern for me.

cobrabyte 12-19-2013 08:51 AM

Received my kit the day before last... smooth idler pulleys. So, the toothed idlers have not come down the pipeline just yet.

digital_assassin 12-20-2013 02:47 AM

Next tip guys.

The cold side piping that runs behind the passenger headlight needs to be checked after installing the headlights. I was hearing a bit of rattling and chased it down tonight and discovered when I reinstalled the headlights I had sandwiched the IC tube in between the headlight and the attachment point of the front crash bar and if left unattended would have wore a hole in the IC pipe.
http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/...psnqwjpk2i.jpg

After reinstallation of the headlights check this side and make sure you still have clearance. Now that I loosened things up and moved them the issue is solved. Not a problem with the kit just something to be aware of when aligning things.

digital_assassin 12-26-2013 02:23 PM

Anybody else get their kit installed yet or am I still the only one getting to enjoy this thing so far?

Waiting on belt cover, replacement anodized parts, injectors, fuel pump and some other bits. Can't come soon enough! :)

digital_assassin 12-26-2013 06:08 PM

Which injectors and fuel pump did you go with? I think we were about hitting the limits of the stock setup so this may open up some more potential in the tuning for you. Colder spark plugs should help too.

Try using rubber pads with adhesive backing for tight fits like this. It'll eliminate any rattling/vibrating, and absorb the wear.

The "other" kit includes a bunch of these pads for the exact same reason.

I went with Full Blown's 270lph pump. It's a 65mm pump so it's a direct fit pump. I'm also going with 540cc Fuel Injector Clinic injectors. I'm running ethanol, so definitely need the headroom. :)

May as well change out the spark plugs at the same time... good call.

This is the only spot were metal to metal was a possibility and once I realigned the pipe there is tons of room around it. The only rattle issue I have is the filter cone is vibrating on my APR bumper but that is probably due to a slightly modified shape to the front end.

Ah, gotcha.

I used the rubber liner on every spot where the fitment was tight. Doesn't hurt, since I HATE rattles and funky noises.

When I saw that the oil for the SC was $100 I sprayed coffee all over my phone. Now I'm typing from my laptop.

Good LAWD that stuff is outrageously priced! Must be made of Unicorn piss or something.

grostoine 12-27-2013 10:26 AM

You have to change it every 80 k miles or two years. Its not THAT bad

Ya I spilled some while raising the engine up to install motor mounts. The little hose and clamp came off the sc unit and soiled :0
Wasn't much tho.

dren 12-27-2013 03:14 PM

I'm installing mine now after I received my EcuTek in the mail. I had the same issue with the idle pulleybolt hitting the oil filter. I took a hack saw to it and it fits fine now. The first issue I had was the main crank pulley was too tight to fit over the adapter. I threw it in the oven on 250 or so and pulled it out and it fit just fine, so there is a bit of an interference fit on mine. The oil reservior is a PITA to install. It does help to have everything hooked to it before you install the bracket. I had to man handle the brake line as well.

digital_assassin 12-27-2013 04:10 PM

The pulley adapter is a snug fit for sure. I used a soft rubber mallet and gently tapped it on. I was worried it wouldn't move to align the bolt holes but to my surprise once it's seated you can still rotate it to the correct orientation relatively easy. Good call on shrinking it with heat though!

Expanding it.

Cold causes contraction, heat expansion.

Just a heads-up... received my replacement parts today. Includes the AC belt cover.

digital_assassin 12-28-2013 11:27 PM

I threw mine on a week ago. Nice touch.

dren 12-30-2013 10:40 AM

I didn't receive my cover.

The piping in a few areas fit tight. I may go back and use some rubber.

One thing to note, I screwed up and cut my vacuum line too close to the brake booster. There apperantly is a check valve or something like it in the line. I yanked it out so I could get the T to fit. You can feel where the valve is by squishing the line. I wish I would have known that ahead of time. I don't know how important that thing is, I may need to purchase a new vacuum line from Subaru. Anyone have any ideas???

And the last issue I had was the EcuTek shipped without a license! I installed the SC all day Friday and by the time I had the EcuTek set-up it was almost 8pm here, which is 5pm in Cali and I couldn't get a hold of the tuner. I got an email from Kraftwerks saying I need to call him to get the registration finalized. Wish I would have known that sooner... The car still sits.

Oh, and a final note, make sure that you have the oil reservior rotated the right direction before you install it. I had to take mine back out and rotate it.

You'll probably want to replace that line if you did break the check valve. I suppose you could cut out the inline check valve and put back an aftermarket one. It's dumb that they buried it without an indication that it's in there. :/

Sorry for your trouble but I'm definitely making a note to check this line when I get to that step.
