how hard to remove tpms sensor?

Does it require any special tools?

Will you even bother to remove them prior to sell?
I got a buyer and I offered him $50 less without the sensor. Considering I have to remount and rebalance new wheels and demount and remount old wheels. Total cost comes about $100.

Are prius tpms sensors compatible with our stock wheels? In term of mount wise. The owner, I believe, has to re-register the tpms sensor.

Yea theyre compatible. And if put into a new car the number on the back will need to be reregister.

No need to take off tire off the rim break the beed without taking out the tire. Pry down on the tire and Ull be able to unscrew the sensor.

Find out how much new sensors are.

TPMS are pretty much universal for fitment. They should only need to be re-registered if changing cars, but if he is putting his old sensors back on he is fine.

awesome. I'm gonna sell them without tpms. Deflate the tire and remove the tpms

Yup be carefull no to mess up the rim or drop the sensor in the tire. And remember to write down I believe the 7 letter/number so when you reprogram .

Did you use rag to protect the rims from scratch?

chriscross_tnt 10-04-2013 03:36 PM

I work at a dealer I used a machine. But a rag or two should be ok. Hardest part will be breaking the bead

yeah breaking the bead. I dont think I have the tools. Do I have to replace new valve stems/ kit once I remove the tpms?

Where is the cheapest place to remove tpms?

chriscross_tnt 10-04-2013 05:46 PM

Theres three parts to the sensor the cap that screws on to hold the sensor the washer and the sensor itself. If your keeping the the sensors keep the washer n cap u can reuse them. If you want to put something where the sensors use to be u can I regular rubber valve stems. Not sure how much a shop will charge to take out the sensors. It can be done without taking the tire off the rim. So that should save u from a mount and balance
