Yokohama Advan Neova AD08R

Anyone has any experience with these tyres? I'm ordering a set of 18's which are bound to arrive in December and will be fitting some 225/40/18 rubber on these new wheels. I talked with a few vendors and one of them recommended these Advan Neova AD08R tyres, which are apparently close to semi-slicks and in any case, very, very grippy. I was initially thinking of getting the less grippy Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres but I was offered a better price for the stickier Advans (Michelin and their prices, oh well). Anyhow, I'll most likely end up with them as Michelin (unfortunately) do not offer the PSS here in my size. As such, I'd like to know if anyone has came across or used these tyres in person. How do they feel/perform? Thanks.

I wouldn't recommend them if you want good performance below 15C or a decent ride quality.

Other than that they're a great tyre.

Chewing gum on tarmac... Had AD08 before and the R compound is night and day.

You're looking at something that's just a step below race tires. You're in for a treat until it gets coooold.

Have the previous model, the AD08 on my Mustang for summer street use, autocross, and track days. Love them. As long as you don't expect a ton of miles from them or try to use them when it gets cold, they should work great for you.

Oooh, that sounds great. I'm not worried about cold weather here since I live in a tropical country and the temperature never goes below 28"C (or 80"F) at the COLDEST and I don't track the car. And I don't mind a harsher ride to be honest, because racecar! Thanks for all the input - I'm definitely going for these now!

Let us know how you get on.

Not to hijack your thread but I just started using the AD08s and I find they are very slippery. It's around 15-16 degrees where I am at the moment but they don't seem to offer anywhere near the level of grip or adjustability of my previous set which was Michelin Pilot Sport 3!! Can you guys please comment on how much warming up these things need? I drive out on the highway about 45 minutes to my spirited driving roads and that doesn't seem to do much. I find myself weaving the car side to side a la race cars just to try and warm the tires up. Cheers, Steven

Just to be sure, these tyres have to be run on low pressure, 30psi or 2.1bar, or perhaps even a smidge lower on the light 86 (1,9-2 bar?). Too high pressure and they will not get any temp... grip of the AD08 should be similar to PSS in the dry.

As per the second post, below about 15C they're poor compared to other less-sticky summer tyres. 20C+ ambient is where they start to work well, and 25C+ they're very good. You can destroy them though if you enjoy lots of slip angle.

Ah... that's one variable I have overlooked - they are on 32psi f/r..

No I don't enjoy lots of slip angle and I hope to get a lot of miles out of this set lol. I'll try experimenting with lower pressure and if not I will just move onto my winter tires a bit earlier because in a couple of weeks we won't see 20c+ ambient temperature for a while! Thanks for your comments!

Not quite. It is in a different league to the PSS.
