Cold start question

From a cold start, should I drive my car after letting it warm up (say 1-2 minutes), or should I not even worry about it? I've heard opposite answers about this:

* Let the car warm up first to let the oil fully circulate the engine block.

* Drive the car immediately because the engine...does not like cold, idle RPM's or something (I forgot) and that only old cars need the warm up time.

What do you think?

I usually wait until the RPM drops. And I let the engine warm up before I push it. Not sure if it's necessary, but that's the way I was taught.

not sure as far as specifically why but i always wait for the RPM's to drop before going anywhere. It just feels right for the car imo.

Guys ticks better with hot chicks. Engine ticks better with hot oil.

It depends if you're in a rush, you could drive it on a cold start but don't push the car. I always warm my car up first by letting the rpm drop. :D

Let the idle drop. Then drive away slowly bringing the oil up to operating temperature .... then gun it.

I've read so many different things saying its good to let it warm up or its bad to let it warm up that I just decided PIZZA!

let the car sit for 30 seconds to allow the oil to fully circulate, then drive it but keep the revs low until the car is warm, then, once the car is warm you can WOT

i wait until the RPM drops to start going then wait for the needle to at least come 1/4 warmed before i start doing anything aggressive. but thats just me.

I have heard modern cars don't need much more than 15 seconds to be ready to drive safely (not push it but just drive). So i usually just start the car then do seat belt, radio, cellphone and by the time im done that its good to go

I just do what most of you guys are doing: wait for the idle drop, drive gently until the temp needle is 1/4 of the way from C, then WOT.

^ same thing this guy said.

I agree, if I am not in a rush, I would let the RPM drop a little, then let it warm up. Generally with any car it should be like that.

Hot/cold, day/night, in-a-hurry/tonnes-of-time = PEDAL TO THE FLOOR:burnrubber:

...No but in all seriousness I let the RPMs drop unless I'm in a rush
