Not worth that much money.

I agree, but that could be said for just about every aftermarket part available for FR-S/BRZ

Just look at STi parts as an example

People will pay top dollar for mods, regardless of their worth... Usually your paying for that shiny little sticker attached to the part

I have Toms Tails, that's prob the only thing i would get from them...everything "JDM" is going to overcharged, but i guess you gotta pay to play.

please excuse my noobishness, but can someone explain to me why it's desirable to buy expensive parts with a company name boldly taking up most of the surface real estate on the part?

for instance, the tail lights 'toms' offers are manufactured by DEPO, why is it more desirable to get a set from tom's with their logo laser etched into them instead of getting a clean set from one of the many DEPO resellers?

Why do people buy mountain bikes worth 2 grand when you can have one for 200?

I know it's not the same thing but to people that haven't been in that scene generally look at it the same way.

soundman98 10-03-2013 12:05 AM

ok, so there's no specific reason then?

there's a few companies that i deal with that cost more compared to what i can get elsewhere, but they do great work on the service end, so if i have any problems or questions about anything, i can nearly expect that i'll have an email within a few hours answering all my questions.. and for that, i choose to spend more and keep doing business with them.

i understand if it's somehow a great company, i just don't see many comments about the company other than what they offer, so i don't get the impression that buying their product offers any special advantage...

Think beats headphones versus some sony or bose ones. The beats would be prettier and more appealing. Sometimes, that's all it takes.

Nike versus Adidas would be another example?

BTW, does anyone know the weight of this knob? Carbon fiber would make it light, but a heavier shift knob would be better...

There's a big functional difference between a $200 bike and a $2000 bike, but if you're comparing two lights made on the same assembly line but one has a different logo there's no functional difference.

Looks like it wasn't too expensive for someone as it's gone! ;)

m.box.design 10-03-2013 05:43 PM

only reasons i'd see someone getting it, is to

1) Build a TOM's version 86
2) Build a show car to display how deep ones' pockets are
