Racing Hart M5 Multipiece 18x7.5 +44 w/ Yokohama 225/40R18
I have a friend who has a set of Racing Hart M5 Multipiece 18x7.5 +44 laying around in his garage and I was thinking of buying them off of him for real cheap (maybe free?). He might have 3 out of 4 center caps, but I'm thinking I might have to run capless, since a quick search shows it's nearly impossible to find a replacement cap.
So my main concerns are that the specs aren't exactly ideal. I would prefer something a little wider (8" at the least), and with a better stance (still better than stock). It will also take a bit of money to recondition them due to scratches here and there from curb rash, and also possibly buying spacers. They come with tires, but I'm not sure of the tire tread left on them. Not a huge deal, since I'd have to get tires for a new set of wheels anyways. What do you guys think? Any huge cons with having spacers just to get a little better stance? Any huge cons in general that I haven't already mentioned? I've loved this particular rim for a long time, and they are quite rare. I'm just not sure it's worth it to invest money into an old wheel to try and get it to where I want them to be, when I can be putting that money into a modern wheel with a wider base, and ideal offsets. And with center caps I suppose. LOL Thanks! |
As long as you get reputable brand spacers, install them correctly and retorque/recheck everytime you rotate your tires, there are no real cons about spacers.
Some people hate spacers thinking that they aren't safe but lots of professional/amateur racers with more than 500hp run spacers and they are fine. Unless you have to have that wheels, it is better to have a wheel with correct offsets though. Even though they are safe, you are adding more points of failures. |
