R/C FR-S

Searched the forums but couldn't find it (RC is kinda 2 letters), so sorry if it's a repost.

Not going to lie, I want one. But it's kind of steep at $430 if you want it fully assembled and functional (with remote and goodies).

430... steep? you clearly have never been in this hobby... I've probably spent 2 grand between my HPI Super RS4 and Traxxas Sportmaxx... and that was back in 2005

That I have not; I've been thinking about picking one up, but when I'm torn between what would equate to a car payment as opposed to a toy car, I'm inclined to put the money towards the real thing.

It's on my Christmas list though.

Good RC stuff is like anything, get what ya pay for. One of my hobbies is large electric RC helis, most are worth 4-6 grand each when done with hq equipment. Cars same gig as mentioned getting into higher end stuff 1.5-2 grand easily... So ya 430 is well..cheap.

This one you show is brushed with a simple radio. If you modded it to brushless esc, motor, quality radio and say 2-3 lipos you're already getting close to a grand.

Tamiya stuff rocks, and their "expert built" series is cool, but don't be afraid to build your own. We snapped photos of our build last year. Clicking on the picture will take you to the thread.

I bought a clear HPI frs body and a new Tamiya ta-06 chassis that I'll be building to look like my real car.

Boostedpro 10-01-2013 10:36 PM

I did a hpi sprint 2 sport and bought a FRS body so it looks like my whiteout. I even installed a light kit, just have to get some extra LEDs for the front and rear fogs.

Alright, this isn't related to the 1:10 scale remote controlled FRS, but this shows what fun Tamiya is all about!

Is it possible to get rwd drifting rc cars? Or is there not enough weight to hold a slide?

Yea that's a cheap way to go about it if you are interested ;)

Be warned though RC's can get very expensive.

I was subscribed to a member on this forum who was doing a drift FR-S R/C and he did a great job on his car. I think it got buried in threads though :(. It definitely got me wanting to start one myself.
