i know a few of you have the shark fin installed and was wondering if mine is defective? i installed the part yesterday and now my radio reception sucks to high hell... i get so much static and i live right in the NYC area... did i do something wrong? i have the updated 2014 nav unit and was wondering if anyone can chime in.

I know this is going to be a stupid question but it has to be asked. Did you make sure to screw in the pig tail with the supplied screw before sticking it down with the 3m adhesive?

legit questions, but yes. it was installed exactly as the instructions said.

Than I have no clue my friend. I didn't notice any difference at all from the shorty antenna I had installed to the Shark-Fin.

I suppose anything can be defective. I would try to contact the vendor you purchased it through or Beat Sonic.

What kind of shark fin you have on yours and who did you buy it from? Mine is beat sonic and it is 100% functional.

I actually went back to the dealership because of a separate problem (adhesive separating from the sharkfin, adhesive still firmly stuck to the car). There they were going to try to get me a new one, but said that there were also some issues with reception with the antenna. I'd talk to beatsonic and see what they have to say.

That said, my reception is fine.

Yours probably is defective, call them up to see if you can get a replacement.

i think it might be the fact that i have the new 2014 headunit?

anyone with the new 2014 unit have issues also?

all USA 10 series comes with the new head unit, no problems with mine and beatsonic shark fin

i did have ONE weekend where HD radio wasnt working, most likely local radio station problem tho

Same here. 10th series with new HU and there is no issue with beatsonic shark fin.

I have the BeatSonic and I lost ~20% of my reception range with the install. With the stock antenna I live on what would be the outskirts of the majority of radio stations. I now have to drive approximately ten minutes before I get back into non static range of those radio stations. With a stock antenna they came in fine. My ipod gets a lot of playtime in town.
