Yeah, lol, I can't wait for the next revision.

I'm planning on cutting up squares of these:

I just noticed that those are 24V. You would need a pretty big step-up voltage regulator or a special LED driver.

Yeah, I noticed it too after I post it, haha..Oh well, I will have to look at the different suggestions here..I like that reflector housing idea.

i know of a place for a 24v converter
http://www.current-logic.com/shop/index.php

but it really depends on how much current you're planning on drawing..

Ok looks like I'm getting a sponsor for the retrofit parts so I'll be able to add Acura TL projectors to the headlights as well.

soundman98 10-03-2013 10:20 PM

can you share who the sponsor is?

AG3NT_5CARFAC3 10-12-2013 01:29 AM

nice to see my old headlights are being put to good use!!!! Nice job @retrosmiths!!

Well..it's been a while, but I've finally decided on the next design. I don't think my sponsor wants to go through with it, so I'll just do this for myself.

3 LED strips per headlight, angled downwards like the GT86. White, amber, white. The amber will only light up with the signal lights, so DRLs will be two strips of white with space in between.

I'll paint the bottom half of the chrome assembly again as I really love that look.

I want to install Mini H1 projectors but I'm finding the modded stock ones better for me (I like more foreground lighting). Besides, there's the budget issue.

So yeah, this will take up some time, I don't want to rush it. Today, I'll be opening up the headlights and fabricating the mounts.

boredom.is.me 10-13-2013 03:55 PM

What type of strips?

retrosmiths 10-13-2013 04:24 PM

The same one I used for the prototype.

boredom.is.me 10-13-2013 04:42 PM

Might I ask how long that strip is? I want to try something out.

retrosmiths 10-13-2013 06:44 PM

They sell 20" strip with 30 LEDs, which you can cut every 3.

You can also buy a roll, but its expensive at around $200.

Well, stumbled upon more issues..

The amber LED strips look too red and will probably won't work (legally anyway) as a front-firing light.

Then, they are easily overpowered by the two strips of white LEDs surrounding them. Like, you won't even see them at all from a distance. I'm guessing the yellow color would be around the same intensity, so they won't work.

Need new ideas!

soundman98 10-13-2013 11:58 PM

what kind of led strips are they?

bi-xenon projectors. turn high beam bulb into turn signal. keep led strips as drl.
