Evo 10 or 2011 WRX

Hey all,

My brother owns a white 2011 Subaru WRX which is modded. He is thinking about selling and buying an Evo 10 and modding it. He really needs to know which he should go with. Keep the 2011 WRX or buy the Evo 10... Opinions?

I would keep the WRX, but why an EVO. AWD to AWD. If he is gonna get a different car, get RWD :)

Evo9

WRX, because EVO is EVOL.

I'd suggest that he test drive an Evo and see which he prefers but that might be tough. Mitsubishi's policy on Evo test drives pretty much requires you to agree to buy the car before you test drive one. Not sure if things are different down under.

I don't know what taxes and such are like there, but in most places switching cars can be very expensive, especially modded cars. I mean, consider the depreciation hit on the WRX, plus the money lost on selling all the used parts, plus the sales tax on the new car, plus the mods on the new car... I mean we could easily be talking over $10k just to have a car that's marginally different, plus the evo x is a bit fat and dull. At this point might as well just wait to see what happens with the xi.

I used to own an STI hatch. Personal opinion - the Evo X is a better performance car. Not only is it faster in a straight line, but it will even oversteer a bit in corners thanks to the torque-vectoring rear differential, and it has much better steering feel. Also no ringland concerns if modding.

The reason I went with an STI hatch was for its practicality. Tons of cargo space (vs. laughable trunk in the Evo), decent size gas tank, and it's quieter and has a better interior. Also bulletproof 6-spd.

TLDR; Evo = performance, STI hatch = less performance + more practicality/refinement

Me and top gear think EVO x

The WRX will feel faster during normal driving, especially after a downpipe + tune. They make tons of tq at really low RPMs. Mine was just stage 2 on a conservative tune and it made 340 to the wheels almost immediately in the powerband.
