Tire recommendations

Hey fellow 86er's, as the title says, my Breezy is on almosy 18k with stock tires so its almost time to switch. I bought 18x8 all round wheel. This is my DD car so I need something quiet and good for dry and wet. I was looking at Re11 and they seemed like a good pair, but then Re11A came out so I want to know the difference. Also if people who has the re11 could tell me how much difference in noise compared to stock? I was thinking either 225 or 235 as tire size.

Thanks in advance

I have the RE-11As and the reason I got them is because I autox my car. They are a really soft compound and they are "ok" in the rain. If you just DD your car there is really no point in having such a soft set of tires. I have them in 245/40/17 on a 7.5" wheel and they are noticeably noisier and have a ride that is quite a bit more harsh. While I really enjoy them for the performance side (they are truly an excellent tire, and have led me to the top of the regional points championship), they are likely not the greatest choice for you. **Unless you're a mad street racer, yo**

The pilot's are likely a more suitable choice, as they will be better in the rain and probably quieter. FWIW I got roughly 10000 street kms, 1 track day and around 50 autox runs out of my set.

I forgot to mention I won't use it for track, as far as grip and steering feel goes, even something just a tad better than stock will be compliant for me. I just need something that would last long and maybe more quiet than stock. Also forgot to ask, what spec should I go with 225 or 235 on 18x8's?

Thanks

If you aren't tracking, Pilot Super Sports will be all the tire you need, even if you end up going FI or modding extensively. They're that good. I had them on my BMW and even took them to the drag strip a few times, and they handled anything I could throw at them.

They are abit pricey but they have good wear, so they'll last awhile.

Price isn't totally an issue, as long as I am happy with it. As for the size if I were to go with PSS, I am confused about the selection, 235/35zr18, 40zr18, and 45zr18. What would be the better choice for me?

Continental ExtremeContact DW's if you want to save money

Michelin Pilot Super Sports if you don't.

Depends on your wheels. Going above 35 on the sidewall is a bit crazy. I wouldn't do it.

Look at their overall heights on tire rack, you want something as close to the stock tire as possible.

225/35 R18 sounds about right. The 35 will keep your stock wheel diameter almost intact which will mean your speedo will read as accurate as stock.

This is true for 18 inch. I'm running the same spec but 245 since my width is 9.5. Ideally, I would run 255 now with my coilovers.
