Advice on negative rear camber
 

I am patiently waiting for the dealer to send me my data sheet from my alignment but I was wondering if anyone could tell by sight if I am going to need rear lower control arms or if a white line rear camber kit can correct this. I know the camber kit can only do .75+/- and most rlca's can do + or - 6°. I'm lowered on eibach sportlines with 17x9 +38 offset wheels with 245/40/17 tires. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Negative camber is good. I'd add some negative in the front with some camber bolts to tuck the top of that tire in the fender and improve your cornering and balance. Don't mess with the rear. They come with some negative from the factory anyways.

Thanks for the quick response fast lane. Do you think that will cause uneven tire wear tho? Those tires were expensive and I would like to get at least 20k miles out of them.

a little negative is fine. Toe will cause more tire wear problems. You should be fine. Without a little negative camber I would wear out the outside shoulders of the tires myself.

To get you the best advice, we would need more info on what you will be using the car for and how you drive it on the street, and which 86 you have.

Its a 2013 BRZ. I do QLOT of highway driving for work and weekend autos a few times a year. I just talked to the dealer and they didn't save my data sheet from my alignment. I don't know whether to go back and demand they do it again or what. The tech said he "thought" I had around -.6°. I just don't want to get uneven tire wear and am trying to figure out if I can get by with the white line kit or if I need rlca's or if that small amount is OK. I usually rotate my tires every oil change or about every 5-6k miles.

-0.6 degrees negative is just fine for highway driving

Except you got more than -.6* Stock comes with more than that and with those springs you should be about -2* in the rear. You should still be fine though

as long as the toe is 0 you will not see tire wear, especially if you dont prefer to drive straight all the time. i'm running -2 all around and wear is pretty even from what i can tell.

i've ran the same camber on my STI and i daily drove that for 2 years with no uneven wear at all.

IMO, even for 100% street driving, anything -1.5 degrees and less is fine. You don't ever want to have zero camber in the back; the car will suffer heavily under cornering.

For a street car, -0.5 to -1.5 is appropriate.

For reference, a lot of German cars (BMW, Mercedes, Porsche), come with a LOT of camber in the back to increase rear grip; it causes understeer which is ultimately safer for most people.

The only issue you may have is that the rear camber on most of our cars is off--and we don't have a provision to adjust. I don't think that was a good production decision for a car that was sure to attract tracking/AutoX enthusiasts...
