GTR-Style Rear Seat Subwoofer
Has anyone mounted a sub in the middle of the rear seat like seen in the GTR? I love the idea, but have no idea where to start. It should be a great way to save the boot space and keep all the weight between the wheels.
I would love to see some pics and hear about the installation! http://speed-tech.zorly.com/pictures...fers-large.jpg |
It's a cool idea, but our car is a lot smaller than a GTR, and then if you add that; you wouldn't be able to fold the seats down.

I like the idea too, but l would imagine you would need to stabilize the seat as it might vibrate.
FYI, this was a mod done by a few of the RX8 guys (I miss that car :-( ): http://www.rx8club.com/series-i-inte...yer-amp-38560/ Again, rear seat did not fold down, hence the rigidity was there to support the sub. |

Far from pretty and not exactly like a gtr but it is functional and sounds good for my first home built box. 10in shallow mount sub with a 300w amp back seat opens and close just like normal and pretty easy to remove. First pixture is with back seat in the upright locked position

Here's a sneak peak at my install I will be posting in the near future.
http://99.26.231.33/Picture031.jpg The fake wall houses an Audison Voce AV12 12" sub. With the back seat down the SQ is incredible. This may very well be the best sub I have ever heard on the SQ side. The sub is in a 1 cubic ft sealed box suppported by my amp rack at the rear bottom side, two brackets attaching it to the rear deck, and being pressed up against the wall. |

Yes I am. I'm redoing my 07RAV4 stereo currently.

I'm gonna bounce over there and check out your log.

I haven't posted a build log for my BRZ yet. I have a video to record and it will then get posted. The other reason for building the wall was that I did not have to sound deaden the trunk at all. The wall has been deadened and sealed. From an SQ perspective, the speaker is not firing through anything when I lower the rear seat back.

Thanks for the response. The reason I ask is I'm designing an sq setup for my car and am trying to decide on the best way to install the subs.

That helps! I've built several loud systems, but this will be my first foray into an SQ system. It seems doing it this way (facing into the cabin) will be an easier design, when taking into account an amp rack, DSP & wiring.
