Fixable?

Think it's fixable? Or does it need a new QP?

What you think that can run? I know a new QP is around 500$ and some change.

I'm not worried about paint currently just let me know what you think.

Short answer...No. QP will need to be replaced...you could try and "Fix" it but i doubt with all the various angle's and dents you'll get it smooth again. And are you getting $500 based on deductible? Because it's definitely going to cost more than that...

somejace 09-22-2013 03:40 AM

No, I never said that's the full fix price. I'm saying 500$ is around the price I can pay for a unpainted QP. Again QP would have to be cut, welded, etc. I'm asking what that fixing price should be around so I'm not being ripped off.

Nope, I don't think it will "buff out"....:(

IMHO, any body person that can pound that out ..... is more of an artist than a body shop man ....

Ya wanna tell us the story behind that nasty ding .. ??

Oh okay i was going to say i would question the work at that point if it's not through insurance at that point for $500. To be honest it varies with what bodyshop your going through but i would say because of the labor involved easily around $2K would be a starting estimate...

I had less damage than you on one of my quarter panels and the several shops I talked to all agreed it was more cost efficient to replace it.

I've been told it's a rough 10-13 hours to cut a QP and weld a new one on. I'm sure it's different per car.

Most shops are from 50-100$ per hour.

I would be a little concern that your gas tank wasn't effected by whatever happened to your car. It took about two months to get my whole tank unit to be solved.

Thanks for your opinion. I actually had someone with worse damage end up fixing it themselves. Showed me a picture of it too. That's why I was curios.

No story on my end, I bought the car as is. Lol

what you mean effected? How so.

juliog 09-22-2013 03:55 AM

Well, in my case it was part of a much bigger job  so it's hard to extrapolate. I think you might be looking at $1500-$2000 for parts+labor+paint... but don't quote me on it :P
