cheapest HP improvements for under $500

Hi, My wife runs the car daily to n from work, and I get to drive it when we go out for dinner with friends etc...

What I'm wanting to do is a simple few tweeks to the bog stock standard 86 (all at once whilst the misses doesn't know) include

Perrin Crank Pulley (majority of weight saving is here so can't justify the extra expense for the set)

K&N/ Perrin air filter for stock air box (30% less resistance to standard flow)

My own forced air induction system designed and installed using house hold plastics and tools

Exhaust tape for Headers and mid Pipe etc...

has anyone got any more cheap ways to increase HP... regards Pete... PS my first attempt at posting...

Hey thanks Supra,, I hadn't thought to use PVC pipe?!? Wonder if it comes in black lol

How are you going to make a forced induction system out of household plastics?

Rotate your distributor to advance the timing a bit..oh wait, it's 2013. There is no cheap horsepower for NA cars anymore.

I'd look into one of those Open Tablet whirlygigs or one of those BRZEdits if you want a noticeable improvement for under $500.

many ways to do this... all is required is to direct Cooler air from in front of the Radiator...using Kiwi Know how!! will post pics once it has been done.. Buy redirecting air flow away from the Radiator and into the ram air will not be hard..

Forced induction on naturally aspirated engines will pretty much increase volumetric efficiency to 100%

What is going on tonight with these thread!

Do you even know what forced induction is?

TireMonkey, You have little to contribute and looking at your past posts and you don't have much to contribute other than correcting peoples terminology of words... I used the term loosely to explain Ram Air...

At speeds faster than 30kph any redirected Air into a standard air box will in its self be Forced induction as any Motorcyclist will understand?

What engine improvements have you done on your Car that increased HP through slight changes? I'm suspecting very few for a lot of Dollars? which in terms of HPx$ was very expensive!!

A) Thanks for stalking me but your assumptions about my contribution to this forum are false. Also when people use the term forced induction around this forum they usually mean super/turbo charger. Which is why I was wondering how you were going to accomplish this with "household plastics".

B) I never said anything about my engine improvements or that my car was better than anybody else's. If you really want to know what I have done to my vehicle then check my garage. You probly should have done that while you were stalking me.

C) You probly shouldn't criticize others about contribution to a forum when you only have 11 posts.

This would have been true 30 years ago but now everything is controlled via the ECU and MAF sensor. It isn't as easy as just blowing more air through the intake using homemade plumbing. Good luck with the trolling and all.

Yea Ive been planning on making a turbo out of my vacuum, I estimate 80-120 Hp improvement at only " medium " height floor setting. It's a Dyson so I can only assume it's gunna be just as, or more reliable than a stock turbo if it ever came out.

Next I plan on making a set of coil overs for under $50 using high grade slinkies, stay tuned!

Op was trolling right? Lol
