iOS 7 and BRZ Nav

Upgraded to iOS 7 yesterday and could not get my iPhone music playing either through Bluetooth or the iPhone interface.

Prior to that though I had browsed the music player and noticed songs that I knew were NOT downloaded to my phone.

New to iOS 7 is a feature called iTunes radio where you can stream songs through the music player like you can through the Pandora app.

Building upon that new feature in the new music player, it seems that every song you have ever purchased from the iTunes Music Store is now available to you on your iPhone, whether you have it synced to your phone or not. Whatever is not ON your phone is just streamed from the cloud.

I believe THIS new feature is what was throwing the Nav unit for a loop, as it was probably looking for songs that are not on the phone.

The workaround?

In the "Settings" app, find the settings for "Music". There is a setting called "Show All Music". Turn that off and only the music that is currently ON the phone will be available to the music player (and thus the Nav unit).

There is a similar setting in the settings for "Videos", called "Show all Videos" and it behaves the same way. I am not sure this has any effect on the music player, as videos are no longer played from the Music player (since iOS 6 I think). Videos have their own player. I still turned that off just in case.

Since making these settings changes on my iPhone, I am able to play my music again.

Tks. I forgot to mention before, but I have a 4S. My wife has a 5 and she will be happy to know there should be no issues with hers too.

I have a 4s as well and while it connects and plays music, sometimes it will hang up and just stop and won't play again until I start the car back up.

I'm upgrading to the 5S this weekend to fix the (1st world) problem.
