Definitely not, haven't seen them.

I trust Racecomp engineering and their products, based on the KW 3's.

You might know more than me, so I won't try and dispute your thoughts.

I learned on my last car how difficult it is to dial in suspension, so I'm trying to keep my suspension stock or just mild springs :(

Yeah I've been following your thread. I like how you're price conscious but have decent parts.
@King Tut: That's one hell of a build, I would call that STi++ :)

Pete156 09-19-2013 08:54 PM

My STI is not exactly price conscious. It's cost me 45 (so far) and I'm not done :bonk:

Until the true STI comes out, what components would you use to build your own "STi"? This means better handling, better performance, better looks, but not sacrificing the former. Also, should look stock - no unmatched parts, wires and cables running around the engine compartment, etc. Last, cost is a constraint - something someone would pay for an "STi".

This is a thought experiment. There's no reason to wait for the STi if you can build it, right?

1 1/2 in lower?
17/18 8.5" front
17/18 9.5" rear - too wide? if so, how to get sortaflush?
Big brakes or just upgraded slotted/steel lines/better pads?
Innovate SC or other turbo?
KW Coilovers or less expensive fixed height coilovers ok?
Effective but not gaudy rear wing
Stylized tail lights
Front splitter, rear splats, side rockers
Side mirrors?
...

Sounds like you just about hit the nail on the head with what I plan to do! 18x8.5" F and 18x9.5" R, KW or Öhlins coilovers, different rear spoiler, Vortech S/C, STi Brembos, TOM's tails, and a Chargespeed Bottomline kit. I'm also going to replace the stock seats with Recaros and get some more JPM Coachworks goodies.

Won't take me long to get there. I've got ~$13k in parts after 3 1/2 months and no end in sight! Damn, that just sunk in. I could have my car more than halfway paid off if I just kept it stock :(

Here's mine:

Oh really? I have Sciobaru also ;) When I mean STi I mean OEM++ or whatever you want to call it.

BTW, I don't see the STi concept as that far fetched. It's not slammed, doesn't have a whole body kit.. it's just upgraded.

Huh, today the thread is in the BRZ section, when it was in the Scion section it was inappropriately placed (imho) hence my comment. Enjoy your Sciobaru.

If there is too much negative camber, how do you plan on bringing it back? LCAs? Adjustable bushings?

Mike

Mike

The coilovers are camber adjustable. I will also be running either Cusco or Racer X adjustable arms and roll center adjusters when I accrue some more bonus money next year. For now I'm making do with lowering springs *shrug*
