loving the body kit, not loving the spoiler

ichitaka05 04-04-2012 02:16 AM

I wonder what engine it has

Guff 04-04-2012 02:34 AM

That grill is really dense, but from what I can tell it doesn't have an FMIC. So maybe it's not turbo.

NA FA20? NA V8?

You do realize it's a race car, right?

My guess is that they'll be running it in the ATCS (modified FIA S2000 rules), which should mean it's still got the FA20.

i know its "because racecar" but there are better alternatives (looks wise)

Looks insane. I like it. I want to hear more info about it.

I'm wondering why they chose AP Racing calipers over TRD seeing as TRD is posted all over it... I'm sure they are the same size.

Are these pics from Thailand?

Edit: just read the thead title :bonk:

old greg 04-04-2012 09:56 AM

Because the brake calipers that TRD buys from its supplier aren't even in the same league as AP Racing.

I suspect this is more of a "circuit show car" than it is a race car. There are a few clues.

Jon Sibal is going to have a full write up on it in his blog soon. After seeing these pics it does look less like a GT300 car and more like one styled to look like one.

Feel like sharing?

I'm revising my earlier guess. I think it's been built for the Supercar Thailand series. So God only knows what kind of engine it's running.

Here's one of the Toyota factory team's earlier cars. Note the similarities in the hood venting and how the sponsors are the same.

It's an interesting looking series. It has a sort of tuner/time-attack vibe, and the variety of cars is pretty epic. There's a bunch of widebody 90's Japanese sports cars (rx7, skylines etc) racing alongside Ford Falcons, Porsche 911s (996s mainly), a couple of Porsche 944 Turbos, an old Z car (260Z?), a few GD and GR STIs, an Evo ~5 and a string of fairly heavily re-engineered Toyotas.

There's even a couple of feeder series', including one with diesel pickup trucks (on proper road courses... suck it Nas-truck).
