One year after my FR-S
It has been exactly one year to date that I purchased my FR-s MT. I have logged approximately 16k miles on.I have to admit I was in love with this car when I purchased it.Even though am disappointed on the overall vehicle quality,I feel the car was fun to drive and had plenty of power for highway commute.
I have not had any CEL or DI problems and I can honestly say that I flog the FRS more often than not.I am very cautious when it comes to potholes and my rims are flawless. But, i have noticed things aside from the goldfish tail lights or how poorly the paint holds up on the front valence. The exterior body panels including front and rear valence and inner fender wells are loose. It appears subaru utilized expanding plastic pins to secure a lot of the plastic panels. These pins are now worn as I can move my plastics around enough to hear a clunk. The passenger side mirror detent will allow the mirror to move enough that it throws me off and it makes a little clanky too. The interior panels are no different, they vibrate like crazy and i find my self turning down the bass only to find its already lower than i thought. I still love the look and feel of the FR-S,but Verses driving this thing another winter,I feel its time to move on.Looking at AWD platforms like the Golf R or Evo X. Just thought I would share my personal experience with everyone considering my FRS did not suffer any issues other than a damp tailight. It was a great little car, just built like they did not give a **** Not normally a poster but learned a lot on these boards, thanks |
So you found out you like AWD because winter?
Have you thought about winter tires? Honestly in most ordinary driving winter situations you'll just as like to crash as you will in AWD car. AWD car in the winter with all season tires isn't as great as we are all led to believe. I've had my own experience in 4X4 vehicles and the Audi Quattro system. BTW, EVO has horrible paint as well. I don't know about rattles but those paint jobs are just as bad this car. But oh well, nice seeing you on the forum. Bye. |
Did you try getting snow tires?

Sad to see it go, I don't plan on driving it in winter I have a LC for that, but my god the doors rattle like all heck and I'm only at 2232, my fj was off roaded and it did not rattle this much :( just don't forget awd will aid in the none sliding but you will still have it there! 4x4 is definitely great for going up hills and deeper snow but turns still have to watch out :happy0180:

AWD is more dangerous because it inspires false confidence. Just sayin'

I'm glad he had fun but I am not too concerned with a member of the community selling their car because it has a few arbitrary rattles or perceived build quality issues. |
