Can someone educate me on warranty?

Im looking to purchase BRZ/FRS, I understand that different dealers will have different warranties. One of them is offering me free maintenence for 2 years at no charge but ive read some people here have 100, 000 miles bumper to bumper. What are some warranties do you have? Thanks, any info will be appriciated.

There is only one real "warranty" -- and that is the factory warranty from Toyota/Subaru.

Everything else is something that people pay for when they buy the car. Even if it's not an explicit part of the deal, if a dealer is offering free oil changes for 3 years or "2 years free maintenance", you're paying for it one way or the other. Not that either of those are really worth much anyways. That's about the only real variance you see between dealers offerings -- how much "free maintenance" they're willing to cover. But that's one of those things that sounds great, but when you think about it isn't really worth all that much money. But if you can get a great price, from a local convenient dealer, who also happens to throw in some free maintenance (and can do it quickly) -- that's great.

The really good proper warranties, like "bumper-to-bumper for 100K" are extended warranties offered by the manufacturers and sold (with markup) by dealers. They tend to be a long way from cheap, ranging from ~$1000 to ~$2500 depending on what coverage and mileage/term that you want, plus whatever profit margin the dealer wants to throw onto the deal.

From what I have read while the warranty is technically the same for both the FR-S and BRZ, Subaru is a lot more difficult to deal with trying to get warranty work on your vehicle and more likely to deny warranty.

All that 2 years of free maintenance is good for is 3 free oil changes. Nice to get for free, but not a selling point.

I am a manager at at Toyota\Scion dealership. If you buy a TOYOTA CERTIFIED FRS, you get the powertrain extended for 7 years or 100,000 miles, which ever comes first. You can also buy a Certified wrap, which covers the WHOLE CAR until 7 years or 100,000 miles. And of course, there are extended warranties from different companies.

Can you still get free maintenance with an aftermarket parts installed?
