Opti-coat a good idea
 

So what do you think of Opti-Coat?

I'm taking deliver of my 2013 GBS BRZ Limited in a couple of days, and I'm wondering whether to go for it. I'm a little nervous about a "permanent" coating, and I'm not sure how I feel when they say the exterior won't feel smooth to the touch afterwards.

My current car has done quite well with waxing two to three times a year (done by the in-garage hand wash place where I park downtown), but it's $90 to $120 every time I get it waxed (depending on one or two coats).

So you did an opti-coat and a clear bra? Looks like you spent nearly $2K? I don't think I'm ready to put out that much.

Rick charges about $300 for a regular detail job.

Is that interior and exterior or just exterior?

Just Exterior I believe but I'm not sure. You can always call him up and ask. If he does charge more for the interior too I don't think it's too much more.

My car overall was $1,100. Included new car detail, opti-coat, and road block clear bra installed on full fenders and hood, front bumper, headlights, and mirrors. Window tint was another $200.

Opti-Coat is not permanent, it's just longer lasting than Carnauba wax. I think you can re-apply every 2 years or so.

I used Rick's shop too. He did a great job.
