Scion FR-S with 18x8.5 Gram Lights 57xtremes all around?

I am looking for a square setup with these wheels, but all I can really find with these are 18x9.5 or a staggered set up. I need to know if they look good when you go with 18x8.5 because they look fairly flat with this set up.

EDIT: Hey guys, I found some pictures on the internet after "tirelessly" searching. They look good, but I still would like some pics from people who have the square 8.5 setup.

Ya they'd be flat. That style has no concave till 9.5"

That is my fear. I don't want 9.5" though(too wide), or stagger(the whole understeer thing). Need pictures though, before making my decision.

Are you tracking the car and looking for square setup for that purpose? Most all wheel selections I've seen "especially higher end wheels" for twins have little to no concave till 9.5" actually aside from some Rota varieties which some in 8.5" do have some concave.

Ray's is doing a concave 8.5 +42 - I've ordered them and due to arrive in November

'Face-2' 18x8.5 +42 - same face as the 18x9.5 +40

Now are you telling me, that it will have the concavity of the 9.5" wheel? I mean it won't be as crazy, but you get what I am saying.

I don't plan on tracking the car. I do autocross at least once a month(usually twice), so any understeer is no good, but the car is also a DD. I am fine with no concave(although it is dead sexy), as long as the wheels look great without.

I'm hoping it will be since its the same face but I guess it'll be in proportion. To be honest, I'm taking on a risk as I like the size and offset of the wheel. If it doesn't come out the way I like it, I'll sell them

Moving the hub 3mm inward isn't going to make that much of a difference when you compare that to an extra inch of wheel and -5mm on the hub on the 9.5. I wouldn't expect anything other than a "slight" concave on the 42mm 8.5.

Who knows maybe the mould is different and they found a way to have a similar concavity with the avalible space. One can always hope. I'm eagerly waiting for the pics. :)

you running coilovers? i'd be interested in seeing how these look as well. i have the 8.5 +33 in the front and wish they were more along the style of the rear 9.5 wheels. the one thing that held me back from ordering the face-2 style +42 was the clearance to the spring perch (i'm running swift springs; not coilovers). with the +33 offset, there was quite a bit of clearance. once i installed whiteline camber bushings, it cut that clearance down and also made my front wheels flush at the top. with no camber, there was about 5mm poke from the wheel arch.
i'm wondering if there'd be enough clearance with stock suspension +lowering springs, and 1-1.5° front camber with the +42 wheels.

If you're running +33 already, +42 will move you in 9mm towards the perch. Do you have 9mm of clearance? Just measure it out, if you do, you're golden.

what kind of margin is typically called for, as a minimum? if i had 9mm of clearance i'd be rubbing with +42. stuff flexes.

For stock I'm not sure. I didn't start doing wheel upgrades/measurements until after I swapped to coils. If you do end up with some clearance concerns on an 8.5 running +42 (And you're already fine with +33) Just grab a 5mm spacer and you'll be good to go then you're only +4mm closer to the suspension.
