awesome .. thanks for the reply!

how long have you been running FI? how many miles?

bakerr6 09-16-2013 02:19 AM

I plan on doing the same thing and running Toni's turbo kit. i'm not sure how I plan on attacking it at this point though. We had a conversation, and I have to really rethink some of my ideas. I may run a borla UEL for a few months until I figure out the path I want to take

Ill have one (and a basemap to share) within the next few weeks. These things are just now shipping, not sure anyone even has one in-hand yet.

i'll have my openflash Tablet in just a few hours. Everyone who ordered last week should be getting them today. 2-day priority mail shipped on Friday from CA to WI, right now it is out for delivery. I have to sign for it, so I ain't leaving the house :)

Slight calrification, FI base maps are not available right now. There is nothing stopping anyone from creating their own tune once they get the tablet.

As I understand it, that's where the whole "Open" comes in to the picture.

I'm pretty sure anyone can make their own tune. But if you're starting from scratch that can be a lot of work.

I think that is the purpose of why they got Vishnu involved is to build baseline maps that are decent from the start and give you a good starting point to tweak going forward.

Anything you discover, you can share if you want.

I didn't see any links to a public file repository for where people can stick their tweaked files (along side some description of their mods for use with that file).

Anyone who can mash keys on a keyboard (or if your fancy and have a trained cat that can take you dictation and paw type :) ) can make tuning changes.

You will start by downloading your currently loaded rom file, send that to the OFT folks who will either create a definition for your ecu id (if they don't already have one) or send you a definition file. By default these are XDF Files used by tuner pro, which is a free download.

You can then install tuner pro, open the XDF file, open your rom and start editing away all you want. Or you can download one of the OFT basemaps (if they have one for your ID). I would highly recommend trying the stage 1 base map assuming it is applicable to your setup. Then you can tweak the base map or start rolling your own etc etc.

I just tested the latest stg1 basemap over the weekend and it is within a few hp of the last pump gas dyno tune i did for my car.

I just got my OFT yesterday afternoon and its very hard for me to drive the without punching the gas peddle and feeling the extra power every other stop light I hit, with my stock frs with the stock base map. And yes, it is that noticeable.

Almost works like a power commander for motorcycles. But, this has a screen display. You have different baseline maps to swap to every time you upgrade your car with parts and when your completed with all your upgrades then you can get a professional tune with your preferable tuner.

As for me, when I complete all my upgrades, I will be going to the tuner with 30 years plus in experience. This OFT can only get better with more maps that they work on.

What if I am affraid that this method is so that OFT will have a database of ROMs from EcuTek tuners? I don't think I want to send OFT my FA20Club.com tuned Full Blown turbo ROM anymore at this point. Is there a way to just get the definition file?
